At the border between the Expanse and the Sunbeam Ruins stands a lighthouse. Its solemn custodian, Nightwatch, has observed the sand and the sea for years, content in his solitude.

But something is changing. Strange figures maneuver in the dunes south of the Highland Scrub, and worrying rumors of stolen eggs and hatchlings in the forests of the Hewn City foretell a grim upheaval to Nightwatch's peaceful vigil...

Sunlight streams down through a grove of poplars. The rays fall upon a ceiling of stained glass, long shrouded by moss and fallen leaves. A glittering array of colors - reds and pale golds and pinks and blues - descend within the building, and the air is so still it seems to freeze the light into stone.

A mosaic stretches across the floor, and old banners sway in the corners of the room around an opalescent throne. The bismuth filigree of the citadel's crest glitters with three heads;

A Ridgeback, a Guardian, and a Tundra.

The scion. The savior. The seer.

Two shadows stir in the corner, waiting for the reckoning. The throne is empty still, and has been empty for so long.

But it is not unguarded.
