Biography
A Water Subspecies: SeaMount wrote:
Lake Tōya is said to be the northernmost lake in Japan that never ices (with competing claim by nearby Lake Shikotsu), and the second most transparent lake in Japan. Nakajima Island (not to be confused with another island of the same name in Lake Kussharo) is an island in the middle of the lake which houses the Tōya Lake Forest Museum.
Lake Tōya was called Kim'un-to (キムウン (kim'un) means "in the mountain" and ト (to) means "lake" by the Ainu. In the Meiji era, Japanese pioneers named the lake Tōya after the Ainu expression to ya, which means "lakeland."

Noted for: Radiating warmth regardless of location, rare fiery tempers that flare up out of nowhere but are otherwise cool tempered. Hatchlings are the most volatile and active, spewing lava everywhere. Adults are significantly calmer but have their moments. Elder dragons are the least concern in regards to lava outbursts, often considered Extinct by younger dragons.
How does this subspecies fit in with Water Flight themes?
+ Though they have the vast ocean in which to nest, all SeaMount mated pairs return to the warm waters close to the Ashfall Wastes to wait for their broods to hatch. +
+ When the Earthshaker stomped down the lands and the Tidelord crashed in the seas, the Flamecaller pulled from deep within the core of the world to release the magma pits. But in doing so she interfered with her brothers creations. The Tidelord cared not for what happened above his waters but he would not allow his sister control over what remained beneath the surface. In an attempt at avoiding fighting both brothers, the Flamecaller relented and granted the Tidelord all volcanic activity that never broke through the waves above.
+ What the Flamecaller did not prepare for was the number of volcanos she would fail to raise completely or just forgot about, letting them rest and rumble on the ocean floor. As a result the seamounts became viable marine ecosystems; they intersected multiple currents due to their elevations, attracting plankton, corals, fish, marine mammals, and eventually dragons.
+ Prolonged exposure to the heated waters eventually started shaping the dragons; deep blues to blend in with the depths, splashes of gold and fire to camouflage into the lava cracks. Snappers and Guardians became the most prominent species to swim in the volcanic waters, though occasionally one could find a Skydancer flitting around like a fish. Often SeaMounts take on blacksmithing or working in a forge, though they’ve also been known to be excellent, if not hot headed, chefs.
