Biography

From - Steven Universe

Blood spattered against the hard ground, surrounding the Spiral with carnage from the intimidating creature. A pair of demonized eyes, red as blood focused on the enemies that tried to take her by surprise, though none if it seemed to work against the Imperial's razor-sharp claws. Thick trails of the viscous liquid stained his claws and teeth red, though the imperial continued to lash out and strike the gigantic toad, until the creature collapsed.

Peridot squeaked as the Wartoad fell at her feet, its body beginning to disintegrate the moment it was taken to the ground. At its spot lay a pile of Molten sludge and a tadpole, which the draconic being picked up in his claws and shoved into a pocket of his shirt. For a moment the younger dragon thought it would be a good time to sneak off before the Imperial got any ideas...

... Until she realized she was pinned in his vision. The Spiral stopped short, shaking like a leaf as she caught him in her gaze. It was bad enough having him in her area, but one glance from those plague-infested eyes was enough to put any snarky comments she could've made at the back of her mind.

The dragon stepped forward, crushing leaves in his wake. It was David faced with Goliath, and she knew it all too well as the fifty-foot menace made his way towards her, bit by bit - he could've easily just stepped on her and ended it, eliminated her on the spot, though the spiral knew better than to question it at the moment.

"The hell are you doing out here, kid?"

There wasn't exactly one or malice, though at this point Peridot was shocked enough to take even this mild snarl as a death inquiry. She was tempted to speak up, though instead kept as quiet and uninteresting as she could; not like it helped.

"I-I was... I got a little...."

The imperial looked down at her with avid interest, his eyebrows raising a bit. He wiped the sweat from his brow, pushed his goggles back up onto the top of his head, his tongue trailing the excess carnage on his jaws. His expression almost seemed trying from the tiny little spiral's perspective.

"Which one is it - got a little lost, or thought you were strong enough to take on these fellas?"

Peridot froze upon this question; oh hell, she knew it was all of the above, though she wouldn't admit bad sense of direction, nor the height of her ego. Going out in the open had been a mistake, a big mistake... First the Wartoad, then the imperial who sat almost sarcastically before her - it didn't make it better at all he was a hulking creature compared to her, and only made her throat dryer with anxiety.

But even still, a more vulgar reply surged forth in spite of her hesitance.

"What does it matter to you, anyways, clod?"

The imperial's gaze narrowed upon the insult, making the spiral slap a claws hand to her mouth, folding the wing over her jaw and neck to avoid being beheaded in any way she could. She was in no condition to fight him, though she had a feeling it wouldn't end well to just stay put - but what could she do? She'd made things awfully hard on herself.

The imperial closed his eyes and gritted his teeth; he didn't seem like he wanted to hurt her, per se, though it was apparent he didn't like her tone one bit.

"This area isn't for anyone to just go ahead and take a stand at; you should at least have had the sense to find a mentor or some stronger dragon to help you get by, if that's what you're after. No one should just be left alone out here, or who knows where you'll end up?"

Peridot grumbled irritably, crossing her arms and front wings over one another at chest level. "I knew what I was doing," she insisted arrogantly, "and I did have a team before I got separated from them."

The imperial looked over over, finding a small scratch on one of her wrists; it was one he'd seen before - one that marked a dragon as undesirable and dead weight. Normally something like this wouldn't have interested him, though the sight of such a strike made his gaze soften significantly.

He crouched down a little, getting to eye level with the tiny spiral. Oh, hell - at this point they both knew what could've happened if he meant her any harm; the drake was so small he could've easily swallowed her down in one gulp - not as if he had any intentions to, though it made sense why she was terrified.

His gaze drifted from the mark to her, sighing reluctantly before his lips formed the words:

"Your teammates didn't get separated from you; hate to say it, though it seems they abandoned you out here."

Peridot's gaze widened in sheer panic; of all things, that was the last thing she wanted to hear! Her claws dug into the ground and in another burst of anger and disbelief, she found herself calling him out once more.

"What do you know about my teammates, clod?! They wouldn't leave me out here! They said they could make me stronger, and they had all intents and I... I..."

Every word of what this imperial said was true: she'd expected treachery in her subconsciousness ever since the pair had offered to train her, though she simply didn't want to believe it.

"Think about it, kid - they saw weakness in you, and found your arrogance a bit too much to handle. So a deal was stricken to supposedly 'help' you, only to leave you here as bait for some larger monster - that story sound familiar to you?"

The spiral shifted uncomfortably, avoiding his gaze. She was half tempted to give a nod, though found herself giving him the confirmation before she could hesitate.

The Imperial's gaze softened further. "So I see."

Peridot half-expected him to end her on the spot, a shudder running up her spine as a bloodied hand reached out for her, claws out... Only for him to give her an understanding grimace, his gaze indirect.

"Farlan Church, Mire Trainer." He quirked a brow. "And you are, miss...?"

"P-Peridot," the spiral replied, allowing a shaking hand to fall on his talons. Every moment around the menace made her uneasy, though it seemed she'd gained some ground with him; perhaps that was for the best. "I..."

"No worries, now - I'm not going to tear you to pieces." He said it so casually that it almost made her feel safe around him, though she remained wary enough lest he strike out once more and do some hefty damage to her. "What is it, now - are you looking to match your ego with some strength of your own, now?"

Peridot growled slightly, rolling her eyes a little. "It isn't like that, but if that's the explanation you'd put to it, then... Yes. I didn't go stumbling into this place just to rot and die."

"Oh, I know," Farlan replied, turning his gaze back at a pair of other dragons; another imperial and a spiral looked at him from the distance, their gazes eager yet worried. He turned back to Peridot then, giving her an apologetic look:

"Listen; I've got to help my apprentice and comrade get some strength in them - Isabel's been pestering me ever since I managed to get myself strong enough to go here - though since I can't just leave you here, I could... Propose something."

Peridot raised a brow, expecting trickery the moment the words slipped his jaws. "And what is this, something, clod? I'm not just going to go along with it, if you expect me to fall so easily into a trap."

Farlan looked down at her incredulously. "Alright, then I guess I might be able to get you back if you'd be willing to - "

The imperial opened his jaws; just the sight of the slick, slippery saliva; the bloodstained teeth; the thick, slimy tongue and the endless chasm of a throat made the spiral weak to the knees. In a moment of sheer panic she shot back, her claws out defensively.

"N-No way! If you honestly think I'm stupid enough to take a chance in the deathtrap you call a stomach, you've got another thing coming."

The imperial shifted his face away, sighing. "Oh for crying out loud... Look, I'm not going to swallow you, alright? Besides, it's your choice - I'm not going to force you or anything. But if you'd rather find yourself melting away in the belly of a giant frog than finding some strength of your own, then be my guest."

Without another moment's hesitation, the imperial got up and headed back.

"W-Wait..."

Farlan raised a brow, seeing the shaking thing give a nod of confirmation. "I... I want to go back with you..."

The dragon turned back around, kneeling down for her. The spiral squeaked in alarm as Farlan opened his jaws, though didn't move; instead, she clambered onto the golden imperial's tongue, sliding back to the soft, cushioned flesh of his cheeks.

After a few moments, Farlan slurped in the last portion of her tail, then headed back to meet his group. He flicked his tail to the pair - Armin and Isabel, looking on eagerly as he approached.

"Come on - we need to head back. Another dragon needs our help right now."
