Occupation
"Quote or whatever."
You stumble upon a surprisingly large tunnel in the mountains, well hidden by carefully positioned rock formations and trees. Curious, and hopeful to find some solace from the cold, you walk in to see a short tunnel with large alcoves in the wall for crackling fires and, further in, a room decorated with so many scrolls, tablets, and statues, you would have taken it for a museum if not for a giant, fluffy bed covered in piles of red silk. The walls were also covered in the material, presumably to keep out the chill from outside. After a brief glance around the ostentatious room, you turn to leave, but the earth shakes and a stab of stone shoots out from the ground in front of you, blocking the corridor back out. You look around in panic, and a giant mass of red silk lifts up from the bed. Only it wasn’t only red silk, once the imperial yawns and shakes off the red silk from his horns. “Are you the food courier?” He asks you. You shake your head and the imperial gives an annoyed “hrmph,” along with a muttered complaint you didn’t quite catch. There was a pulse of magical energy, and the stab descends. “Alright then, go and get me some food, unless you want to do something else for me,” he mumbles as he sets his head back down into the nest. “My relics need dusting.” “Why should I do anything for you?” you ask. He lifts his head again, and this time, he stands up on the bed, shaking the silk off his green wings. “I am the son of imperials created by the Lightweaver herself!” He declared, brown eyes flashing. As he spoke, the room shook as if to punctuate his words. “My talent with magic is far greater than you ordinary dragons! I am unsurpassed in the purity, power, beauty...” As the dragon continued to rant, you slowly back out of the corridor and return to the freezing winds outside, bumping into what seemed like a giant, moving box. There was a curse and a wolf head looked out from behind--No, on closer inspection it was a skydancer with a wolf mask. “What?! And he already got a servant to do his work for him?! Then why did I have to come?” the skydancer complained. Then he shoved the box into your hands without further comments. You try to protest, but he glares and scans you from head to toe. “Now, I don’t remember your face from anywhere, and I would bet Altair would be none too pleased to know a foreign dragon is wandering around her territory,” he said the last part with a roll of his eyes. “So it would be in your best interests to give this giant box to the lazy imperial in that cavern. In exchange, I’ll lead you out of our turf without any opportunity to bother our clan matriarch.” You’ve never heard of any dragoness named Altair before, but the way the strange skydancer talked about her made you decide these sort of circumstances wouldn’t be good to meet her in. Grudgingly, you pick up the box--it was heavy! What in the world was in it?-- and bumbled your way back into the cave where the imperial was. “Drop the box,” you heard him say. You did so gladly, and to your wonder the ground seemed to sink ever so slightly as if to cushion whatever was inside, then what seemed to be a ripple on the earth itself brought the box over to the bed with the imperial, who nosed it and snorted peevishly. “Blast that Hawk,” he mumbled. “Never refrigerates my food to my specifications.” He seemed to have forgotten all about you, so you make your way back out to where the skydancer was waiting. |

As such, he was not the most popular in the clan. But he soon proved his words true when, after nobody was heeding one complaint of his, he carved a great cavern for himself with a flick of his tail. After that and several similar feats, several in the clan have grudgingly accepted his lazy and haughty demeanor.
Nowadays, despite still typically found loafing about and generally ignoring the day-to-day life of the clan, the rest of the members don't deny the raw power he command. Occasionally, he even gets requests from other members to do this or that due to his skill in earth magic.
