Perhaps you've heard of it, in ancient tales passed down over many generations - the tale of a great magic war warred in what is now Shadowbinder's domain, one that shook the world as it was known. As the dust settled, the fallout was hurriedly abandoned, the dead left unhonored, a stain in Sornieth's past left for time to erase. This is where the tales stop.

Oh, but such as life, that is not where it ends.

The ruins remain there, for those who seek them or by misfortune stumble upon them. Overgrown, swathed in darkness, oversaturated with magic - not only inhabited, but unnervingly alive. The once great city of Erebus lives, inhabited by mysteries and spellbound travellers, by the eccentric and the aspiring, by the forsaken and those who long to be, and even by those who death forgot.

But even in this land where time stood still, forgotten even by the gods, destiny still stirs. Amid the twisted evergreens a great terror looms, along with the rising of beasts both old and new; and where dogged contenders covet power, an ancient rule is brought to its end, unearthing a hunger that could swallow the world.
