B A C K S T O R Y

Born and raised in Earth, Isabel was always rather fond of the area and its culture. Having spent a short time in Shadow, she was more than eager to return to her homeland with her new family, and aid them in their efforts to research the history of the world. In return, her new clan was fortunate to have an Earth native to guide them and their efforts - while a haunted mine is a great place to research, it makes a poor living space. With her help, however, the clan was able to set up a decently sized settlement, not far from many of the mines and catacombs they enjoy researching.

Isabel now spends most of her time working on her writings. She is the designated scribe for the clan- writing down any and all new information they discover, as well as the clans history. Her tomes are filled with hundreds, if not thousands, of pages detailing the local history, items of importance, original discoveries, and a comprehensive guide to all of the living organisms one could find in their neck of the woods. In her free time, she works on her spell casting - her specialty is identifying spells, but shes working on some other ones for fun- such as Tasha's Hideous Laughter. She also enjoys spending time with her wife, Penthus, the clans wizard. Penthus is a much more talented spell caster, and has taught Isabel a few spells here and there.

Together, Penthus and Isabel have also raised many of the clans offspring- as the (generally) most mature and responsible members of the clan, they are often entrusted with teaching many of the hatchlings about the local history. As a result, its rare to see either of them without a younger dragon accompanying them in their studies or archivist work. The dragons they are entrusted with raising, in turn, tend to be well educated, and trained in basic spell casting, as well as Earthen history and cultural practices. Many of their offspring go on to work directly for the Earthshaker - which is a great source of pride for Isabel especially.

Overall, Isabel is the mentor of the clan- someone they would struggle without.

_FEATURES_

____Bardic Inspiration - You can inspire others through stirring words or music. To do so, you use a bonus action on your turn to choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet of you who can hear you. That creature gains one Bardic Inspiration die, a d10. Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes.

____Cutting Words - You learn how to use your wit to distract, confuse, and otherwise sap the confidence and competence of others. When a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, an ability check, or a damage roll, you can use your reaction to expend one of your uses of Bardic Inspiration, rolling a Bardic Inspiration die and subtracting the number rolled from the creature’s roll. The creature is immune if it can’t hear you or if it’s immune to being charmed.

_SPELLS_

____Message - You point your finger toward a creature within range and whisper a message. The target (and only the target) hears the message and can reply in a whisper that only you can hear.

____Comprehend Languages - For the duration, you understand the literal meaning of any spoken language that you hear. You also understand any written language that you see, but you must be touching the surface on which the words are written.

____Identify - You choose one object that you must touch throughout the casting of the spell. If it is a magic item or some other magic-imbued object, you learn its properties and how to use them, whether it requires attunement to use, and how many charges it has, if any. You learn whether any spells are affecting the item and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, you learn which spell created it.
