Our Story (WIP)

You walk down a seaside path, decorated and lined with all sorts of flowers and glittering rocks. The sea breeze gently brushes across your cheek as you look over at the enchanting woods where the path began. As you travel further down the road, you begin to see brilliant cliffs, taking on waves as blue and clear as the sky. You begin to notice a cluster of caves at the end of the path, seeming to glow with soft light of varying color. Each cave opening is huge, and strangely inviting despite its immense size. As you get closer, you get wafts of the most amazing smells. Herbs, florals, and something warm and sweet. You walk into the biggest, and most center cave, and are greeted by walls lined with flowers, glowing crystals, dripping candles and vines hung from the ceiling. Along the walls there are more caves and hallways, all lit in some sort of beautiful display. You continue on to the end of the cave and go through a curtain of vines. You come out into an even larger cave, and as you take in the size and beauty of it, you realize that it must be a central meeting place, for so many brilliant and unique dragons of all sizes hustle and bustle about. They are planting more flowers, creating potions, reading to little ones, laughing, and creating the most wonderful music. You are ushered over by a richly colored fae and she introduces you to a warm and friendly skydancer. She reminds you of rubies and the golden silks she wears shimmer in the light. You soon learn that this is their Queen, BloodDiamond, and are in awe of her presence. “Welcome to the Menagerie of Mystics” she greets you in the most lovely, warm voice “How may we be of service?”

It all started with a guardian whose hide was rich with blood and whose heart was as gold as her wings. Hecate was the founder of the clan. She discovered a cave to nest in with her mate at a young age, and promptly brought three new little dragons into the world. Overcome with her joyous love for her children, Hecate made plans to create a safe, and permanent home for her family on the edge of the sea. Her mate however, did not quite agree with such plans. It is said that her mate believed the children should be offerings to the Tidelord as to obtain his favor of the new clan. He did not think that the children should be kept until many nests had been offered for good measure, and therefore had no love for the hatchlings. Fearing for the loss of her little ones, Hecate refused to give in to her mate, and opted for keeping her babies. One dreadful night, when the hatchlings were but a few days old, Hecate came back from foraging to find the nest empty. Horrified and aching to be reunited with her children, she tore the den and the surrounding terrain apart in a frantic search, only to be met with the cold, and disgusted eyes of her mate. It was not long before the great guardian realized what he had done. The children had been sent off as an offering while she was away, not even giving the young mother a chance to name the hatchlings. Furious and grieving, Hecate rid herself of her mate, and fled to a larger system of caves further down the seaside. It is unclear what she had done with him, or even what his name was, for she never spoke of it, though the loss he cause her created a fire in her heart to regain the love she desperately craved.
Hecate then vowed to take in unwanted hatchlings and raise a clan of her own. If she could not create something great for her own children, she would for the children she took under her wing. It was not long before the dragon had a sizable group of dragons to look after. She raised them with a fierce love and strength that shocked even her. The young dragons took on their own special qualities and potential, and soon grew up to become elegant, passionate adults. Though Hecate had raised such amazing new souls for her clan, she still ached for the babes she had lost, and found a want in her to seek them out. After careful training and preparation, Hecate appointment a pair of dragons to become the Queen and King of the clan. Those dragons were BloodDiamond, a beautiful and refined skydancer, and LightBeam, a strong and capable guardian, whom had fallen in love and mated a few moons prior. Happy with her choice and the hope she had given her clan, Hecate said her goodbyes and left in search of the love she had once lost.
Ever since Hecate’s departure, the clan has upheld the mission to take in as many unwanted or lonesome dragons with gifts, hard pasts, or incredible potential as possible. The clan has had tragedies, such as the death of the beloved king, but has held strong. Each dragon has immense respect and support for one another, knowing that together, they can fight whatever demons may come their way. Led by a loving and elegant queen, the Menagerie of Mystics remains a source of magic and mystery, backed with nothing but a deep love and fiery passion for the art of all that is wondrous. There has never been a clan more gifted or more united in such magical, and mystifying backgrounds.
