Shadowfall ; A Light in the Darkness

I am part of the nest network, but you don't have to be a part of the nest network if you want to rent my nests. They're free! I love seeing the hatchies.

Just FYI, I sometimes friend request people who buy my hatchies, as a way of keeping up with my clan's progeny. This is merely for the sake of my headcanon. :D

You've been wandering through the Tangled Wood for a few hours now, and are starting to lose hope that you'll ever find your way out again. Creatures of living shadow seem to move around the edges of your vision, staying just out of sight in your peripherals. Suddenly, you come face to face with a great wall of bramble. Whatever is moving around in the shadows seems afraid to approach the area you're in, so you figure you are safe for now.

You look down and notice you are standing in a large glowing ring of mushrooms, a fairy ring. Hearing a rustling sound, you look up to see an opening that you are fairly certain wasn't there before. Suddenly you gasp as an orange and white face pokes out at you.
A tabby colored Tundra with dancing emerald eyes greets you, a slight smirk on his face.

"Whatcha doin, friend? You look lost. Very lost...” Stretching his neck out a bit more, he snuffles quietly in your direction, his nostrils flaring open and closed. His eyes narrow slightly, as he cocks his head to the side with another face splitting grin.

"If you are a raider, an agent of the beast-clans, or an aspect of the Shade looking for an easy target, I suggest you look elsewhere....Otherwise; Welcome friend! Come in, stay awhile. We don't bite..... well, not much..."

You nod solemnly, and make your way through a seemingly thick, solid wall of brambles. You reach out a limb and snatch it back in surprise when one of the thorns breaks your skin. Laughter echoes around you, but it does not seem to emanate from your guide, though he still smirks. Abruptly,
your guide stops in front of you. Your mouth opens to ask what the problem is, but it shuts near immediately as the illusion around you dissolves.

Gone are the brambles you thought surrounded you,
Instead, you are in a diverse and intricate looking cave system. Far above you moonlight filters in through a distant air shaft. The rest of the plentiful light is provided by the glowing fungi that is indigenous to the territory sprouting around you. A stream cascades from a waterfall, and meanders through the area. You seem to be in the main cavern, though you can see several tunnels branching off from where you stand. Your guide twitches his tail, and begins to move forward through the dragons that are assembled in the area.

The dragons you see are just as varied as described, from every territory and background. Though Shadow is definitely the dominant element, all the elements are represented.
You pass a gangly sky dancer covered in herbs, working over a boiling cauldron, while a venomous looking shadow-colored pearlcatcher with firey eyes seems to be gesticulating her amethyst and flame colored magic over a young fledgling in front of her. A diminutive bogsneak colored like the forest sits nearby, taking notes.

You pass an opening into what looks like a nursery, a blood colored Snapper and her arcane sister who seems to pop in and out of existence are watching dutifully over the different clutches. Suddenly a pair of goat like plague colored eyes search you as you pass.... Why do you suddenly feel as if you are too thin?

The next room is obviously the library, a bookish looking green female pearlcatcher is sitting next to a dark, grumpy glowing male pearlcatcher and using the light from his glowing belly to write.

As you hasten after your smirking guide, you pass a number of militant looking dragons in armor, gathered in what seems to be a smithy. The smith, a female bogsneak, seem to be in deep conversation with a skydancer who has lightning crawling across his body. Eventually, you walk by a room with a ghostly looking skydancer, who is chanting sadly as he paints the body of a dead fledgling with anointing oils. Candles float through the air around him as he works, as if held by ghostly limbs. You incline your head respectfully as you pass, tearing your eyes from the sad scene before you to look to a startling amount of glowing ahead of you.

Stumbling into the cavernous antechamber, your eyes widen as they take in a mountainous imperial, white light seemingly emanating from his hide, glowing gold and black vestments stirring around him as if from a breeze, though none exist in the still space. His eyes are covered by a tendril of cloth, but you can still feel his eyes on you as you hasten to catch up with your guide who has gone on to the next room.

He is stopped before two fierce looking Guardians, and seems to be speaking and laughing with... his Shadow?! No.... after a moment you realize it is another male Tundra. You see him gesture towards you, and you speed up to stop before the two guardians next to your guide and his friend.

You look at the females who obviously rule over this diverse little clan. Inclining your head politely. You introduce yourself both to the matronly looking one with the wind eyes, and the rather scary one with the fire eyes and internal flame. A sudden pang of surprise runs through you as you look on the head of the older dragon. A chubby looking female human sits cross legged between her horns, her short, inky black hair sticking in every direction. You had thought humans mostly extinct, but it seems this clan has at least one. A smirk drifts over her face, and she waves a hand at you lazily. The darkness of her hair and clothes, along with the creamy paleness of her skin, contrasts starkly against the matronly dragon's bronze armor. She whispers something to the dragoness she perches on, and they both seem to laugh.

You shift your attention from the human back to your guide, as he explains who it is that you stand before.
The matron is Branka, progenitor of the clan and mother to the fierce, fiery, midnight colored leader. The human is named Yuki, and is somehow credited with being the 'protector' of the clan, though you fail to see how something so diminutive could help anyone in any matter, let alone an entire clan. The living furnace claims to be called Chimera, and welcomes you to stay as long as you abide by their laws, and avoid the Shade which has invaded their lands. You nod your assent, and with one final glance at the three strange beings, are whisked away after a moment back to the main part of the cavern.

You are sandwiched between the dark and light males,
as they verbally joust and laugh heartily with one another, and soon you find yourself smiling and joking along.... You find yourself thinking wistfully that you could get used to this. And eventually, you do. Welcome to Shadowfall.
