Tamiel stared at the giant tidal pools which had had fallen dry at this time of the day. They were littered with rocks and debris from the nearby shore. The vicious sea and violent storm had destroyed lairs, wooden huts and fishing boats. Tears welled up his eyes as he glared at the now peaceful water surface barely visible at the horizon. The cloudless sky was a soft periwinkle blue. But he remembered the deafening howl of the storm and the roaring sea. How the sky had become pitch black within minutes. His parents had been concerned, then frightened when the full force of the hurricane hit their small lair. He had never seen his father scared, or even thought that such a thing was possible. His father was huge and strong. But the storm had been stronger. Tamiel was glad his memories of that day were fragmented. Only bits and pieces of what happened resurfaced in his dreams. His mother screaming, his siblings crying and the desperate face of his father as he lifted him on a wooden plank that was dancing on the waves. He knew that his father and mother were gone. As were his siblings. The sea had taken them, the elders said. He was all alone.

“We are grateful for the help you provide, Tenoh. We really appreciate it.” Tenoh looked at the despair and destruction and felt helpless. He had brought some food and blankets, things he gathered in a hurry before he left the Sanctuary. Everyone back home had contributed, but there was only so much he could carry. Reports had been vague and he hadn’t anticipated the destruction the hurricane had caused. Nobody had. The force of the storm must have been enormous. And the death toll was still rising. “I will make sure that food and building materials are sent. As much as we can spare.” He told the elder of the small clan. He noticed that the small hatchling was still standing beside the dry tide pools. His small body was covered with scratches and bruises but he had survived the ordeal. The elder followed his gaze. “Poor thing.” He said. “The last of his family. They were one of the founders of our Clan. Great seers. They all perished in the storm. Their bloodline will die with him.” Tenoh turned around to face the elder. “But he survived. He can continue the bloodline.” The elder shook his head softly. “I don’t think so. Tamiel doesn’t speak, he doesn’t eat. He gets weaker every day. And he is afraid of the sea. How would he even divine his first revelation if he cannot visit the Shoredeep Presage?” Tenoh growled angrily. “Haven’t you lost enough lives?” The elder shrugged. “We must concentrate on the ones who want to live. Tamiel is no more than a living ghost.” Tenoh turned away from the other dragon, quivering with rage. How could anyone be so heartless? The young hatchling was in a state of shock. Nothing time and a bit of kindness wouldn’t mend. He took a deep breath, steadying himself. When he spoke again, his voice was calm and controlled. “Tamiel will come with me. Where I come from, all life is precious.”

Tamiel looked up as the huge Imperial approached him. His wings were like beaten gold but his eyes were as blue as his own. He smiled at him, but Tamiel didn’t smile back. He couldn’t. His muscles simply wouldn’t move. The stranger was carrying two satchels, and he noticed that one contained the few things of his belongings the sea hadn’t taken away. Amongst them the lapis lazuli necklace his father had given him as a birthday present and his small doll. Why was the stranger carrying his things? The huge Imperial lowered his head. “Tamiel, my name is Tenoh. Your elders tell me that your family died during the storm. This is no place for a hatchling nobody seems willing to care for. I know the world must seem grim and bleak to you, but I promise those feelings won’t last forever. You are the last of your family, you are all that is left from their bloodline. But you are also their future. I’m sure your parents tried everything to save you and your siblings. And they succeeded. You survived against all odds. I won’t force you to come with me, but I can take you to a place far away from the sea. A place full of lush green forests and gurgling streams. I promise that I will take care of you as best as I can if you come with me. Please, Tamiel, don’t let your parent’s sacrifice be in vain. There has been enough death here.” Tamiel looked into Tenoh’s deep blue eyes. They reminded him so much of his father’s and he could feel tears streaming down his cheeks. Reluctantly, he nodded his head in agreement. Tenoh reached down, snatched him gently by the neck with his huge jaws and lifted him up onto his back. He leapt into the sky, his golden wings beating powerfully on either side. They gained height quickly but Tamiel never looked back at the sea that shrunk beneath him.
waterv4.png Information
Name // Tamiel

Role // Seer / Oracle

Personality // Tamiel is rather reserved and reticent. But he is very close to his foster parents Tenoh and Usako. Originating from a long line of oracles and seers, he has inherited his bloodline’s talents. Though he never visited the Shoredeep Presage, he has not forsaken his heritage. He spends a lot of time by the Seer’s Pond, whose strong clairvoyant ambience grants visions to those receptive to this sacred place’s aura. As much as he hates the sea, he cherishes the cool waters of the Seer’s Pond and its endless underwater caves stretching deep into the earth’s belly. Like his foster parents, he spends a lot of time beneath the water’s surface but he loves to relax and warm up lying beneath the huge willow tree by the Pond. He eventually became friends with the Clan’s Riparians who guard the waterways and is especially close to Lethe. Occasionally, the Cavern Watch requests his help patrolling the partially submerged tunnels they protect against invaders and other foul creatures and to his surprise he found himself enjoying their company from time to time.
-- Likes // Divination, Snoozing in the Sun, Exploring Underwater Caves
-- Dislikes // The Sea, Lightning Storms, Fish

Familiar // TRISTAN
-- Role of familiar // Tristan, like Tamiel, was orphaned and his Clan abandoned him without hesitation to the unforgiving sea. He harbors a deep resentment for his own kind and took refuge within the underwater caves where Tamiel found him. Tristan stays away from the other Maren familiars in the Forgotten Sanctuary. He rarely leaves the deepest underwater caves but found a soulmate in Tamiel who, like him, was abandoned by the ones who should have cared for him after his family died.
