Burning cold. That was the first thing that Elessar remembered feeling. There was a cold so numbing that it prickled their skin, seeping into the depths of their being. Oddly enough, they were comforted by it. The cold, all they had ever known, was their only source of life. The only way they knew that they had a conscious, that they were conscious. That was all they were, all they knew. A conscious being, nothing bigger than an atom, and yet, nothing smaller than a universe. They were the everything that came with the nothing; the crowd that enveloped the isolation.

Centuries passed as they watched the space around them grow. Cosmos, galaxies, universes opened up around them, and they longed to be part of the vast emptiness, to become a part of it instead of simply observing. Slowly, they learned how to control the energy that surrounded them; grabbing the distant stars and bringing them closer, taking the light that passed by them and brought it in the bubble of their own creation. Electricity formed, blinding light fought with the overcoming shadow. Heat forced its way through the overpowering cold. Elessar could finally be a part of this universe instead of being a spectator to it. And finally, as the energy grew and the power that they had stolen to create this world became almost overpowering, they let go.

Stardust. Stardust and smoke was what was left of the world that Elessar had tried to create. A sadness fell over the conscious being, one that they had never known before. They had failed; the earth that they wanted to create had succumbed to the formidable power that was the explosion. Too much power, too much potential, and too much desire was its ruin. Their energy spent, Elessar turned away from their creation, tired and wanting to rest for a long, long time.

And then, the smoke cleared.

From the dust, Elessar saw a small planet, much, much smaller than they had originally hoped it would be. But it was something. It was alive. They saw organic life; indistinguishable beings in lush green, soft blues, harsh yellows and oranges. To Elessar, it was perfect. And they wanted to make sure that it stayed that way. So they took what they knew about creating life and tuned it in to make it even smaller. Although their strength was almost spent, they worked to create beings to take care of their world. Four creations, made in Elessar's likeness, were put upon the world that they named Sornieth. One to control the wind, one to hold the earth, one to command the waves, and one to spur on the flames in the core of the planet. Sentience, Elessar gave them. The power and desire to hold together the world, protect it from the harm of the chaos that Elessar knew. And with that final wish, they fell into a deep slumber, their vitality all but spent.

Yet it was not the end of the universe that was Elessar. They woke up, unknowing of how long had passed since their last conscious moments with their creation. They looked upon Sornieth, and saw something beautiful. What was a simple plane of being for four beings had somehow turned into an entire living, breathing world. Life flourished in the time that they had slept; four had turned into millions of beings, and Elessar knew that they wanted to be one with a civilisation of beings that they had never had the chance to know in the millions of years that they had been conscious.

They knew what they wanted, so they took it. Stars, energy, pure light materalised in the very core of their being, building up on itself, creating shapes, lines, edges. With the knowledge of creating the four beings and life in general, they knew what they wanted to look like. Scales and horns grew in multitude as they took the colours of the galaxy; deep purple, neon pinks and blues, radiant oranges and yellows. Finally, they had a true, physical form.

Elessar flew down towards Sornieth, finally ready to physically embrace the being that they had created out of their own life and energy. Elessar saw wonders that they didn't even know existed; they felt the warmth of the sun on their scales; the soft grass under their claws. They smelled flowers, pollen. The dark sky, where they had come from, was littered with bright diamonds, the stars of universes that Elessar had seen being created with their own eyes. And finally, finally, they saw their favourite creations. They saw dragons. So many of them, patterned with colours that they had never seen before, with powers that they had not anticipated, all bustling with excitement, with life. They had created this. And they were going to finally be a part of something greater than them.

Elessar, the universe, was home.
