As you stumble through the frigid tundra, the cold leeching through to your very bones, the sudden burst of greenery and flowers takes you aback—even if you were searching for this place, the sheer vibrancy is a jolt, a defiance of imagination. The rich hues of the trees stand out against the blue sky, and the poppies and daisies at their feet are bursts of color against the snow. With such life, such lively foliage, once would expect it to be warm. However, as you step over the Oasis’s boarders and emerald-green runes flash by your feet, there is no wash of warmth—only the hungry, unforgiving cold. Upon closer examination, the trees around you are not the vibrant emerald of northeastern forests, but the cool, icy tones of the south, frost coating their branches and leaves. You squint at them, curious how such life could blossom in such frigid conditions, only to find a pair of white, gleaming eyes staring back at you from the foliage.
“Hello?” you call, hesitant. The wind rips the word from your mouth and casts it into the air, swirling it among the trees. The hidden figure chitters at you in amusement.
“Basil,” comes a sharp call, and the eyes vanish. You whip around to the source of the voice, and find two pale Coatls before you, both with wings of green. Their white eyes bore unfriendly holes into your skull, and you feel yourself step back. “You, stranger: come with us,” that same, sharp voice demands, and you realize it must have come from the female on the left, her verdant emerald butterfly wings shot with frost.
Your mouth goes dry, but you follow.
The dragons who roost here have all the look of a Nature clan—their scales are green, purple, blue, the soft, rich tones of nature, of life—but their eyes are white and gleaming, an indication of where their powers now lie. Esmeralda has stepped down from her position as the Clan Leader, and has handed it off to Orsi, a fellow Nature dragon who found her after whispers of a green place within the ice reached the ears of those who doubted the cries of the war-hawks. She approaches you, feathers entwined with flowers, her crest and spine adorned with blossoms. Her eyes glow with Nature magic.
“Greetings, traveler,” she says, voice warm but distant: it’s the residual warmth of a frozen hot spring, the heat of your misting breath in the cold. “What brings you to the Oasis?”

Concerned with the growing tensions within the forests of the Gladekeeper, perturbed by the whispers of war, Esmeralda—the founder—fled from the trees and found herself a home within the arctic wastes, where none would think to look for a Nature dragon such as she.
