The Cursed Werewolf |

*Pant* *Pant* Mnementh's vision was clouded by his own breath in the unbearing cold, but he paid no mind to it. The most important thing was to find a way home from this random place he found himself at. The dawn was just breaking, blinding him for a moment. Finally, the Sun. He inspected the surrounding, looking for anything that could help him orientate, but there was nothing he could use, other than his own tracks in the deep snow. *Haaa* He let out his last deep breath and started walking back, following his own trail, and leaving the game, an elk, in the snow behind him, with the taste of blood still lingering in his mouth. After a while, he finally saw one of the trees he marked before, when, he didn't know, but the marking was surely his. He placed his paw next to the mark which was slightly bigger and clawed the mark once again, sighing. He moved on, following both his trail, that was starting to lose itself in fresh snow and the markings he left prior. As he was nearing the Cave he was temporarily staying in, he saw a white jaguar which fixated its eyes on him. Jaleed... The Jaguar jumped in front of the Coatl, and changed its form into a beautiful, feather-covered Wildcalw. "Isn't it a bit early for a stroll, Jaleed?" - asked the Cotal. *Chuckle* The pure white female let a small laugh and then promptly answered - "Why? I thought you might've gotten lost, so I went to look for you." *Hump* He knew she was just teasing, but she was right, whenever he'd find himself lost after the night, she would come and find him. "Let's just go back, how long are you planning to sightsee around here, anyway?" - grumbled Mnementh, slowly tagging along. "Let's go, girl! Common!" - yelled Mnementh to the black wolf. He had found her wounded, and he had taken care of her until she got better. She was untrustful of him, growling, trying to bite him, but he wouldn't be shaken by something like that. He gave her a clean corner in his cabin, provided her some fish and meat, fresh water and warmth. The wolf slowly came to tolerate him and, finally, even to like him. This day, however, she was to be returned into the wilderness, her home. "Common! You wanted to go outside so bad just a few days ago." - said the Coatl, trying to push the canine out. As soon as she got fed up with his pushed, she slapped his face with her tail and ran outside on her own. The dragon followed swiftly and, seeing her like that, thought about something for a bit, and went back into the cabin. The wolf was running around, finally moving after few days of lying down, barely moving. She was just about to leave, going back into the deeper forest before Coatl called her again - "Girl! Come back!" The wolf, without knowing the actual meaning of his draconic words, slowly walked back to him, knowing he wanted something of her. She did, after all, learn to read his body language in the short while she spent with him. As soon as she came to his reach, he leashed her with the rope. She tried her best to get out of the rope, albeit unsuccessful. "Don't worry, girl. I won't keep you leashed the whole time, but I'm taking you with me, back to the Mirrorlight Promenade. I'll take care of you!" - he said to her while dragging her into the house. Wolf was unwilling but had no strength left to resist much longer, being dragged into the cabin, from which she was free just a moment ago. After few days of refusing to eat, the wolf finally broke down and ate, while Coatl was watching, pleased. He was about to start a journey to the Mirrorlight Promenade, along with his new companion, a black wolf from The Tangled Wood. During the journey, the wolf resited now and then, but mostly she followed, exhausted from not eating regularly and constantly resisting before, but at the night they neared the border, that changed. As if her energy replenished, she was fierce, determined not to leave the Woods, growled and tried to pull back, but the Coatl was determined to bring her into Lightlands even more than before. Pulling her, dragging her, whatever he had to do, he did, and he finally got her over the border, passing the final Tangled tree, he was out, and so was she. But as soon as she stepped out, she stopped resisting. She gracefully sat down and howled. It wasn't her first time, but Mnementh thought this howl sounded extremely sad. He wasn't wrong. The black wolf sparkled, making Coatl's vision fuzzy for a short while. As soon as he regained his sight, what was before him was nothing more than a pelt, and only a few of sparkles remained, slowly fading away as the rest of them did before them. "What-" What is this? He held the pelt, looking at it in disbelief, unsure of what he just witnessed. In his confusion, Mnementh heard a voice, coming from the Forest -"So you're the one who took the Forest Child away from us." He looked up, trying to see the source of the voice, but there was nothing, just trees, and glowing mushrooms. Am I hallucinating? Did I eat wrong mushrooms with the fish last night? But his thoughts were interrupted - "She paid dearly for her trust in you, it was her mistake. But the Forest will not let you go, without paying your debt, one life, for another. She was your prisoner in your cabin and leash, you will be a prisoner in your own body. You shall become like her, a graceful beast, but only during the night, with visible a visible moon." Coatl didn't understand what he was told, he was still bewildered. Not much passed before the Coatl learned the truth behind mysterious words. As soon as the one-sided conversation ended, he felt a change in his body. He was rapidly growing fur and he felt the desire to hunt.Ah, the voice mentioned a moon! He was aware of everything that was happening, but he was in no control over his body. He was running on all four, occasionally howling at a moon, as he hunted local wildlife. As soon as the Sun rose, he regained the control of his body, which would've chained back into the dragon at that point. He researched the curse but had no luck, so he decided to live in isolation until he figures the things out on his own. The only thing he figured out is that, no matter what, he would change every single night since even if one moon wasn't visible, another one was. Sornieth, after all, has more than a single moon, possibly more than two, but only the Arcanist knows. Mnementh has become afraid of the night, and of himself. He was capable of attacking other dragons, without him being able to stop himself. He, indeed, became his own prisoner. Luckily, a Snow Jaguar Nagual he met in the mountains, Jaleed, agreed to help him by keeping an eye out for him, if he followed her when she decided to sight-see any other place. The best she could do is stop him from hurting the other dragons by intervening, but even just that was enough to put his mind at ease, only just a bit. |

A young man walked through the forest With his quiver and hunting bow He heard a young girl singing And followed the sound below There he found the maiden Who lives in the willow He called to her as she listened From a ring of toadstools red "Come with me, my maiden Come from thy willow bed" She looked at him serenely And only shook her head "See me now A ray of light in the moondance See me now I cannot leave this place Hear me now A strain of song in the forest Don't ask me To follow where you lead" A young man walked through the forest With a flower and coat of green His love had hair like fire Her eyes an emerald sheen She wrapped herself in beauty So young and so serene He stood there under the willow And he gave her the yellow bloom "Girl, my heart you've captured Oh, I would be your groom" She said she'd wed him never Not near, nor far, nor soon "See me now A ray of light in the moondance See me now I cannot leave this place Hear me now A strain of song in the forest Don't ask me To follow where you lead" A young man walked through the forest With an axe sharp as a knife "I'll take the green-eyed fairy And she shall be my wife With her I'll raise my children With her I'll live my life" The maiden wept when she heard him When he said he'd set her free He took his axe and used it To bring down her ancient tree "Now your willow's fallen Now you belong to me" "See me now A ray of light in the moondance See me now I cannot leave this place Hear me now A strain of song in the forest Don't ask me To follow where you lead" She followed him out the forest And collapsed upon the earth Her feet had walked but a distance From the green land of her birth She faded into a flower That would bloom for one bright eve He could not take from the forest What was never meant to leave |
