Leila

The Princess

Leila was sent to the clan as an alliance gift when she was newly hatched; as the first and only Imperial in the lair for a time, she was rather spoiled and bratty. However, Lady Reis herself quickly became personally invested in Leila's upbringing after a temper tantrum destroyed a considerable portion of the clan's food stores and disrupted Liall's careful cataloging system of the treasure hoard. Over time, Leila grew into a mature and gracious adult, although she does still have a somewhat haughty attitude towards other dragons. She tends to prefer her own company and that of a good book to the company of her lairmates.

She knew that Shariq was her intended mate as soon as he arrived at the lair, but for Leila this has always been solely a matter of duty. She has no particular fondness for the other Imperial, and treats him with the same distant respect she gives any other member of the clan- though if she does tend to grow impatient with him and revert to her old bratty and imperious ways around him, no one has seen fit to comment. She sometimes wonders if her indifference towards her mate is the reason they produced only a single egg in their first mating, and this does cause her a small amount of guilt.

When the young Skydancer, Zayn, was sent as an emissary from Clan Nirak, Leila was delighted to see another dragon from her old clan, and since his arrival, the two have been inseparable. The sudden change in her normally reserved and solitary attitude has been noticed by many, including her mate, who is less than pleased by this turn of events.
