A dragon born of tainted blood.
Or at least that was what the whispers that followed him through out his entire life called him. Aro grew used to their insults and insinuations. At the same time he learned he had to be clever, worm his way into other's hearts, then leave before they were any the wiser. He rarely remained in one place for very long, whether he was kicked out or left of his own free will. He grow, changed, and even found a few mates, but his bloodline always caught up with him and all of his children fled into the windsinger's arms.
And so he found himself wandering into this clan of the fallen. Almost immediately a bright and energetic young Hunter found her way to him. Aro used all of his usual tricks, a charming smile here, a "moment of vulnerable" here, and she fell for every single one.
But soon the whispers found him again.
"He's must be fallen for something, but what?" "It must be the Shade!" "I heard that he..."
Aro took this as his cue to leave...only to have a small body stand in his way: Awa. Despite the rumors, she still adored him. Aro was, for once in his life, genuinely surprised. He decided to stay and bask in her cheery glow for just a little longer. For every lie he told, she responded with that bright eyed zeal for life, which began to frustrate him. The more time they spent together, the more she found her way into his heart as well. Which made him even more irritated. Until finally his mask broke...
"Stars above how dense can one dragon be?!" He blurted out one day. "Can't you tell that everything I've said to you was a lie?!"
Silence fell between the two fae until she gave her answer in the same cheerful tone she always used.
"So?" She tilted her tiny head. "I still enjoy being with you and there's nothing false about that."
And then Aro laughed. For the first time for as long as he could remember he genuinely laughed.
