"So first off there's Plug and Play (which are pseudonyms), they're a pair! My lair's not exactly aware of this, of course, but the two of them are time travelers from a dystopian future where the Stormcatcher's influence had spread to all of Sornieth. Nothing but echoes of their once-powerful selves, any deities went into hiding or died fighting long ago, and concerned with nothing but progress, efficiency, and capital, the Stormcatcher's agenda was starting to tear the world apart. The Southern Icefield had long since melted completely, The Viridian Labyrinth's forests had been dismantled for space, and any sunlight that may have once reached the Sunbeam Ruins was squandered by ever-present storm clouds looming overhead.

Many understood that if the world remained on the path it was on, all life would perish. So certain sects of dragons began working in secret with other sentients (maren, centaurs, the few remaining dryads, etc) to find a way to fix things. Plug, with his prodigious skill in technology, and Play, with her encyclopedic knowledge of Sornieth's history, were chosen to go back and do what they could to prevent this reality from coming to pass. They're staying at the Brilliant Cascades, to plan out their next move, and lay low for awhile.

Play is from what was formerly known as the Starwood Strand, and she's much more cynical about their situation. Born with eyes that seethed with lightning, she was always favored by her community, as it's said that primals had been blessed by the Stormcatcher. She hardly encompassed the ideals of Lightning, however; in her youth she'd spend hours poring over history books, journals, and ancient guides of all sorts. She couldn't get enough of the world that once was, and longed to see her home lit up with the luminescent foliage that her books so often described-- when it came time to send back a few individuals, Play was a natural choice. Her knowledge of history would allow her to pinpoint when and where to strike, and how things got so bad in the first place, as well.

She's enchanted by the world of the present, and experiences all the other elements with a sort of subdued wonder; their magic, their eyes, their world, all so diverse and so interesting and so alien.

But she's worried, too; why would the Stormcatcher bless someone destined to dismantle the timeline where he's so thoroughly succeeded? Do they fail their mission? Is their presence what causes the apocalyptic future from which they come? Or did Stormcatcher realize that to become god is the loneliest achievement of them all, and that life without his siblings was in fact not a life worth living? It keeps her up at night, regardless."
