Zorayda's Clan

Zorayda's clan is a mish-mash of dragons, most loyal to the Icewarden. There are a few strays who make their way here, but Zorayda and the others accept them with open arms.

Zorayda herself is a bubbly, cheerful broodmother who is responsible for the clan's leadership. She is forgiving and warm despite the freezing temperatures, and she is very loyal to the Icewarden.

This clan has a few unique qualities to it, especially when compared to 'normal' Ice Flights. First off, Zorayda does not accept that selfishness and hard-heartedness are the way to survival. She deeply believes that all dragons must take care of each other if they are to survive and maintain their pride. Love, she says, is the key to fighting the Shadow of the world and making the Icewarden proud.

Zorayda's Clan also has an unusual quality when it comes to mates and mating habits: most of the dragons are polyamorous, meaning that many of these dragons have emotional and physical relationships with more than one single mate. Contrary to what others believe, it isn't complicated at all to maintain. Being full of love for everyone, Zorayda herself has a few mates that she adores dearly. There is no jealousy between them and they all take care of Zorayda, the broodmother and caretaker of all within the lair.

This is also practiced by many others of the clan, though some prefer to stick to only one mate.

History: In the beginning, Zorayda--a Guardian dragon whelp--was both raised and mated to an Ice elemental Mirror dragon who tried to instill his practice of 'survival of the strongest' into her. She always felt uneasy about this, having a soft heart and a protective streak, but she allowed him to talk her into exalting her first clutch of hatchlings to work under the Icewarden, never having the chance to truly get to know any of the triplets.

Soon after, he also left, and Zorayda was alone. Determined to prove him wrong and to surround herself with dragons to care for, she started her clan. She became friends with all who wandered in, including another quirky shaman Mirror named Rauru, a flitty Nature Fae, and several others. In this time, her clan began to grow and grow, and she used magic to change her form into the Wildclaw she is today. She has laid many clutches with beloved mates, some of which stayed, others either leaving to work with the Icewarden or to make their way into other clans.

She and her dragon clan have befriended several other clans across the nation, sending letter back and forth, trading supplies, and forging friendships. Kune and Fialov have both served as couriers and letter carriers, faithful to their matriarch and mother, respectfully. The clan has kept growing and growing, expanding into a respected and well-known clan who aim to make the Icewarden proud through their philosophy of love--and, of course, through collections of artifacts and other trinkets.

Zorayda and many of her clan have forged new friendships with many clans of all elements, on the day of the Great Clanmeet. Many newly formed dragon clans had need for familiars and numbers in their forces, so Zor allowed many of her own to join them as they wished. She hopes to remain allies with these new dragon clans for quite a long while, trading skills, stories, philosophies, trinkets, food, and literature. The Great Clanmeet was a rousing success!

One of these clans--Clan Auran--has become particularly close to the dragons of Sculpted Cavern. The two of them swap gossip, lore, stories, studies, and even sometimes eggs. Between them, they have noticed that many of the Beastclans have been at unrest, attacking randomly and giving even Zorayda's clan's Kune a hard time. Clan Auran's messenger, Sabel, notified the Sculpted Cavern's leader about a recent meeting between Beastclans--all differing species. This was worrying news, and a possibility of war came to the surface of all dragons' minds...
