The child of a witch and a poet, Blackberry grew up learning the importance of choosing the right words from a young age. While his father could, perhaps, have the misfortune of conveying a different meaning than intended with a poorly-chosen word, his mother’s spells would not only have different meanings - but different effects, too.

Words have power, and Blackberry knows this all too well. And when enough meaning, enough power is ascribed to them, it soon becomes reality in the hands of the right person. It is this which Blackberry chose to study: if spoken spells perform miracles, what about the written ones?

As it turns out, they are just as potent. One only needs to imbue them with the right kind of magic, add a kind of trigger for its activation - the next thing you know, dragons are crowding around the golden letters, searching for whoever made such an inscription. Glowing letters may be one thing; what about those who emit a glittery haze when read? It is certainly not something that can be done by any ordinary dragon, that is for sure.

Although Blackberry found quite a successful niche in this, he expressed his desire to spread his unique art of magic many, many times to his parents. Eventually, he set out on his own, selling magically-inscribed tablets along the way to keep himself fed; all, in the hopes of finding a place he can continue his work once more.
