Biography
Peregrine
"Ah... I'm out of breath already."
A peculiar Tundra with a strong affinity for Shadow magic, Peregrine takes great pleasure in brewing and spellcasting, in which he has exceptional skills in. He is considered the clan's biggest procrastinator, often lounging around instead of doing his work. However, thanks to his powerful magic, he is a very effective mage, and is a powerful force to be reckoned with when angered. Luckily, he is also rather calm, which is why seeing displays of his power is rather rare. His main goal is to cure a chronic ailment he gained in adolescence, named Floral Foxfire Disease.
Floral Foxfire Disease (FFD) is a disease contracted by ingesting infected plants located in the Foxfire Bramble, hence its name. The disease's defining symptom is the prevalence of flora around the infected dragon's neck, resembling flora found in the Foxfire Bramble. A dark blue-stained mane is also common in breeds that have one, being especially common in Tundras. The flora causes breathing problems for infected dragons, in which coupled with draconic asthma, can be deadly. It can also be problematic for Tundras, since the disease can impair their olfactory memory, often leading said tundras inflicted with the disease to forget important details with those they do not interact with on a daily basis. However, it also makes magic stronger in dragons who have FFD, bringing rise to powerful mages within the Tangled Wood. The disease currently has no known cure.
FFD also has an unclear origin. The most widely accepted origin of the disease is that during a battle between the Plaguebringer and the Shadowbinder, invading Plague dragons used their magic to lay a disease on some plants in the Foxfire Bramble, although some say that the dragons were unaware what exactly the disease was. Some time later, reports came in that several plant-eating dragons had strange life flourishing on their body, and they were wheezing as well. After some investigation, a group of florists deduced that the disease originated from the Foxfire Bramble, thus giving name to the disease.
However, not all dragons believe this story. Considering that the disease centered around flora growing on the dragon, some dragons, mainly Plague dragons living in the Tangled Wood, believe that it was actually Nature dragons that brought about the disease. This theory of FFD's origin strengthened the Plague-Nature feud within the Tangled Wood, something the natives of the Shadow Flight did not want to see go on in their territory. Yet another theory is that the Shadowbinder herself brought about the disease, using it to punish plant-eating dragons harming the Foxfire Bramble for their own benefit.
