who is in control

The Listener was chosen, for reasons unclear to him or others, as the conduit for which the Shade delegates Its more mundane tasks. He has since left behind his former life, tasking himself to Hear the Shade's will and ensuring it happens.

His cold and tranquil demeanor immediately puts others on edge; his unsettling grin hints at a much more sinister and powerful side of him. Despite his eerie presence, the clan works and lives together as a family unit. Those on the Listener's good graces look to him with awe and respect, while those who are less fortunate walk with an air of fear and unease about them.

They say that his smile will worry you until you know him, and then it will worry you even more.
