Probably! What if there's little insect/arachnid worlds as well? I've seen screenshots of catching a frog in New Horizons, which seems to imply the "real" animals could actually be villagers. Very curious over the inter-species relationships in AC.
It'd be very neat if we got "less popular" animal species! Considering there's octopods, there's a precedent for it! Give us more villagers, AC! But yeah, it's a shame that there are less "non-cute" animals, thanks to the dog/cute preference.
Yeah the funny thing is... intelligence can't really be defined/animals are surprising. Manta rays and crocodiles are very intelligent, for example! Same thing with jumping spiders! But, because they're not cute, they don't get as many good roles. ;-;
The Worst of it all, with "Scary" reptiles such as snakes and crocodiles getting it next. Then it goes to "cute" reptiles like turtles, to birds, to "scary" mammals like rats, to "cute" mammal like bunnies, to cats, and, finally, dogs as having it best!
Alright, so! A lot of ideas of "smartness" for animals are pretty arbitrary! Turtle can solve problems, they just do it in a different way! Typically, speciesism depends on how close to "cute fuzzy mammal" the victims are. Thus, invertebrates and fish get-
Ahh you're welcome! That's really neat! I feel you. I have some massive pie chart about dragon intelligence/species in media, so I understand making a monstrosity. I find speciesism in media interesting, alongside digging up lore in games!
