Gecko and his brother Sidewinder were adopted from a nature clan that was in the process of dissolving, its dragons sent every whichaway. His mother and father were exalted shortly after he and his brother came to Wandering Gale. Though Gecko knows he can never return to his home clan, he has found a supportive home in Gale territory and appreciates his new home.

That said, he remains very devoted to the Gladekeeper, and keeps a shrine to her. He is a soft-spoken, gentle, but very intense and fervent dragon, and an excellent hunter. In spite of his great combat prowess, he's not actually very socially dominant, though. He would be horrified to hurt another dragon, although he pursues and rends prey with intimidating focus.

His hunting pack consists of Caracal and Plover. Of the three, Caracal is undoubtedly the leader and delights in getting on Gecko's nerves. She would never lower herself to actually defacing his shrine, but if Gecko finds the runestones upside-down and the gladekeeper plushie arranged in a suspicious position with the plaguebringer doll, he knows exactly who is responsible and gets intimidatingly mad. In spite of her size, though, Caracal is just as strong as he is and much more agile besides, and lets him chase her around roaring and pounding his tale until he's worked out all the rage and she can loop herself laughing around his tall horns again. He would be absolutely appalled to put a scratch on her and she knows that. In spite of conflicts and personality differences, they are a powerful and much-appreciated hunting team.
