Generation 3

Regenerating Reedjumper

Callisto was born without markings.

Her parents whispered to each other as she slid out of her egg. Unlucky child, her father said. After all, how could a Nightingale be a Nightingale without their spots and stripes? By good blood, her mother shot back, an Alchemist's Tool through and through.

But beneath their squabbles, Callisto was always listening.

By good blood, she thought to herself, but to be accepted by one half of her family and not the other was an invitation to be what she should have been, rather than a adversary.

One thing was true. She would be a field medic. There was never any other option. But, woe as her career was inherited, skill was not. Many a night Callisto stood awake, scribbling down the recipe that didn't work and the guesswork to make substitutions that might, sampling and testing and reworking until finally, it worked. Why? She couldn't fathom what made this batch different from the twenty others she prepared the same. But it worked, and that would have to do for now, because she was so far behind and there was so much to do. As much as alchemy was a science, if it was so easy to follow some instructions and get the results she needed, Callisto would have been much farther off.

But oh, she couldn't stop. She had a family to prove herself to.

And, when, in the midst of a new mixture of venom and powder that would surely be undiscovered, surely make her something by name even if she was nothing by skin, Callisto finally discovered the secret of just how dragons got poison-spots and toxin-stripes, and it was all in vain.

'bandages wrapped around fingers, skin blistering and then rubbed-raw from effort that sometimes goes nowhere. the smell of eucalyptus oil. bright colors, almost sickly - the color of blood oranges. the faint smell of sweat that lingers in your clothes when you press your nose to them, for anyone who labors. ~ Nightingales always exhibit Poison and Toxin for their Primary and Secondary Genes. Grey Toxin is especially prized, as it is shared amongst all the founding parents. However, grey range is preferred. Primary and Secondary color ranges from Maize through Shadow. This is required. However, there are no requirements for Tertiary Gene or Color. This is where they wide array of variation will come in.

~ Once a dragon reaches level 15 it can be listed formally in the Nightingale Registry. At this point, it can be bred, and its children will be eligible to train to become formal Nightingales as well.

~ Build: Mage Tank

~ Alchemist's Tools dragons must be level 10 to be eligible for registration. This is not a high level to achieve and think of it as a reaction process finalizing into final form.
