Far over the deep waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents rests the Floating Isle of Quilan. This mysterious land mass has been home to many clans of dragons over the centuries, its deep-rooted and primordial magical footprint drawing those from across the farthest reaches of Sornieth.
At its center stands the Great Banyan, a supremely ancient tree from which the isle draws its power and the epicenter of all magic on the island. The venerable tree sits in the middle of a lake from which three rivers branch - one etches out its stream directly north, and the other two etch out theirs to the east and west. These rivers reach the very edges of the island and drain back into the Sea of a Thousand Currents.
The Great Banyan - though in appearances is nothing but a large tree - is actually a sentient being, and is capable of communicating with a single dragon who lives upon the floating isle. This dragon is known by many as the Warden, or - more formally - the Listener of the Leaves. The relationship between the Warden and the Great Banyan transcends reality itself, for it is rumored that a Warden is an incarnation of the energies of each Warden from previous generations, and the very first Warden was borne from the ancient tree’s first fruit.
