Born in the Snowsquall Tundra, LarkSpur had been a servant to SwiftCloud’s wealthy household. It was there that she was taught the art of making incense, mostly strong scents such as cedar and pine that lingered on her scales. Alas, it was because of those strong aromas that she was banned from the sacred tea room- and from seeing the one her heart yearned for, SwiftCloud. Cruel servants told her to wash in the freezing streams and use lye upon her scales to win his heart, and she took their words to truth. But the lye and cold only cracked her scales and brought her to sickness. Her master did come to see her, only to chide her for her foolish actions, and she dreamt of running away that night.

But it was not she who would run away, but SwiftCloud who would call his whole household to a wild hare chase after a Spiral Thief. LarkSpur would dutifully follow her master, though the rough travel and new dragons would terrify and her. She sold her incense and labor as they traveled, using every gem to help fund her master’s journey. Yet still he did not look upon her with anything but disdain. She reminded him of the thief that had stolen his precious treasure and it broke her heart- yet she would not leave him. She was one of the few servants left as they reached Reedcleft Ascent, where he caught the Spiral Thief- and then pronounced her his mate.

LarkSpur wept openly and ran, ran into the twisting passageways of the Ascent till she smelled the similar scents of home- cedar and pine. She walked into the shop that burned small censers of the incense and a smiling Tundra, the incense maker. With all the politeness she could muster, she asked to be his apprentice and he readily accepted. It was there that she would learn how to make perfume along with incense and come to appreciate the many varieties of aroma that could be created.

She spent many months learning till she became a master in her own right, and one day he came into the shop door, SwiftCloud. He humbly asked her if she would wish to make incense and perfume in his new clan, and she agreed- if only he would teach her the art of tea. He accepted her offer and still to this day he teaches her and SereneTea, her dear friend, the intricacies of tea making. Unfortunately, it is mostly a monthly ritual, since all three are busy with their jobs in the clan. LarkSpur spends most of her time at the Abyssal Acropolis, making and selling her perfumes- her favorite being frosted violet.

LarkSpur is also friends with the timid WillowShade, the faerie had been attracted to the scents of her perfumes. She likes to shyly visit and play a guessing game with the scents. The most surprising friend, and mate, to LarkSpur is the large and intimidating WaveBreak. What most dragons do not know is that he spent years secretly courting LarkSpur, and she fell in love with his humility and kindness. She knows the good within his heart, and does not fear the beast that he once was.

"Do not regret following your heart, even if it only leads you into heartbreak. You shall learn and find happiness in the end."
