Heartbreak happened early in Klytie's life: a lover dead, the only true love she'd ever had, and that was it. One swift, sharp blow to cleave her heart in half. She couldn't eat, couldn't even summon the energy to hunt, let alone care for anything except the exquisite pain that sparked all down her spine whenever she thought of him.

Finally, weak and lonely, she succumbed to the darkness. As it turned out, her sleep was just a new beginning. She woke beside Psalakantha, felt sap where blood had been and bark where bones had grown, and when she fluttered her wings, it wasn't the sound of feathers but the rustling of leaves in summer breeze that she heard. Her high-tempered clanmate makes for interesting company, but the pain that harried her for so long seems distant and unfocused. It's been wonderful, to be happy again.
