B a c k s t o r y From the time he was born, Kave loved to wander.
His clan was from the Shadows, so they didn't mind when he went to wander the dark brambles of the Woods. The Shadowbinder would never lead one of her own astray. Kave always found his way home. Every nook and cranny of the Woods was home to him, after some time.
Very early into his life, Kave's clan heard a rumor on the wind, one of dragon's mad with Shadow magic savaging the land and all its inhabitants. But they were Shadow too, surely these dragons couldn't find them? Even if they could, they couldn't hurt them. Shadow magic is equal, and they would protect their dragons from other flights. The Shadowbinder wouldn't let them come to harm, they were sure. So they stayed put, and Kave went out the next twilight as he always did. He took notes on the flora, and watched the animals, plotting their movement as he always did. When it was time for him to go home, he turned and expected the mist to part back home. Instead it was still, and silent, and the same woods he had been wandering for hours. He knew at that instant that something was wrong. He tried to find his way back, he did, and he knew he came close a few times because of the smothering Shadow magic that even left him reeling. He looked and looked, but the closest he came was the muffled shouts of fighting though trees and and sickness that pressed down on him. He was attacked, once, maybe twice, by beasts dripping shadows, and bears his own scars to prove it. After hours, the trees finally parted. It's wasn't to his clan, which he now knew was lost, but to the unforgiving Boneyard. He hesitated. He didn't want to leave his family behind, but the Woods had sealed off behind him, a great wall of thorns. He first step was trembling. He was saved, but at what cost? |

B i o g r a p h y Kave was alone for most of his life after that.
The Order of Runes needed to convince him to stay with them after they ran into another pack of Overexposed near the Shadow and Plague border. They weren't as well versed with them, and they tried reasoning with him that the Shade wasn't much different.
It was, but their ranks were struggling. While Kave bears the Order's mark, alongside his own family's, but he still wanders. He is often called back to hunt, for he is usually far away. Kave's serine and bashful nature makes him a asset to the Order's negotiation and job-hunting team. Kave is a generally agreeable dragon, and is good at scoping out a new job by likeable he is. He is nervous though, and prone to anxiety. He's never very keen on returning to the Tangled Woods, even though the bodies of his clan and family were never uncovered. In his mind, he'd rather leave it be, but he knows in his heart he would feel better if he just got some closure. He needs to get his alone time, though, even away from his mate. He will travel far, all the way to the Dragonhome and back, between jobs. Despite this, Kave always holds an air that is unconditionally lonely. He doesn't like to talk about it. He specializes in culling the Overexposed, though he has been trained well to hunt Shade. He is a little Overexposed as well, though it does not effect him as much as a dragon born outside Shadow. He will occasionally drool Shadow magic, but no other symptoms have been ovserved. He has a large scar over his chest from the attack, from a Wildclaw's claw. He keeps it covered with his mantle as to not make other's wary. |
