Captain Terrowin of the Dawnguard is committed to 'protecting' the clan even from itself at times. He's fighting usually a losing battle. Though originally the Dawnguard was established to watch over the crowds of hatchlings that clan Cairne produced, as fewer nests have been laid his duties have changed to guarding against new outsiders and fiercely protecting clan territories.

He believes Cairne is too soft to lead, and has carefully started to groom his granddaughter, Orion, to the role instead - luring her into the Dawnguard with promises of glory and might.
