People give the Scarred Wasteland a lot of flak, but it's not so bad! Sure, it's spreading at an unsustainable rate into other lands, and a lot of the inhabitants can be temperamental at the best of times - but as they say, there's no place like home, and specifically no place like Cath's home.

The Bone Mother herself runs this place - it's a refuge for the lost and unfortunate, those who have received the Plaguebringer's most virulent and unpleasant gifts, and she takes care of them all - from tiny baby Fae, covered in snot and parasitic fungus, through to Spirals and Imperials whose very flesh is falling from their bones.

It's a family - and a family business, and a family tradition, and anyone who's anyone (and also has a debilitating and incurable illness of some sort) is welcome to spend the night in the warm (body temperature), dry (bone dry) and comfortable (I'll spell it out for you - the whole place is alive, like the rest of the Wasteland) caves and dens under Cath's control.
