About my Autism

I may be Autistic, but I am NOT slow in fact, I started college at the same time I started 10th grade and graduated High school with 40 college credits.

I have a hard time communicating with people efficiently. When replying through text, I may take a while because it takes a bit for me to figure out exactly what I want to say. I also have a hard time finding friends who aren't annoyed by my weird obsessions and quirks or my lack of communication skills. This is why the internet is an escape for me.

- I can't always recognize people's facial expressions, moods, tone of voice or tell if people are being sarcastic or not.

- I hate eye contact

- I have sensory processing issues

• I have amazing hearing but can't cancel out background noise the way most people can. So I literally hear everything to the point that, when I'm in a place with a lot of ambient noise (say a food court/cafeteria) all the sound combines together in this extremely loud mob of noise in my head and it's impossible for me to understand what people are saying to me unless they yell it in my ear.

• I absolutely cannot eat anything spicy. Pepperoni sets my mouth on fire and jalapeños may as well be habanero peppers as far as I'm concerned.

• my sense of smell is heightened and strong smells like perfume/Cologne/body spray often give me pretty bad headaches.

• I can see the flickering of florescent lights (as apposed to the normal continuous beam of light you're supposed to see).


Obsessions:

I know a great deal about freshwater fish and could spend hours talking about how to correctly set up an aquarium and the behaviours/needs of different types of fish. Also raises my blood pressure when people think it is okay to keep ANY fish in a bowl/vase including betta fish!


I'm also quite obsessed with cats and I know a great deal about them. 10/10 could talk for hours about them without getting bored. And I've got 5 kitties of my own hehe.
