Clan Under the Red Welcomes the Birth of Crown Princess Neottia, the Plagueblessed

History

The Clan Under the Red is a clan of great turmoil recently brought together by survival instinct and a shared shame. Initially settled in the Windswept Plateau, they were a restless place from the start. Home to many disparate personalities, few who fit the Wind lifestyle, even the clan's own progenitors. Doubt and discord led the Queen's ward, October, to viciously overthrow her and lead the clan north to the Scarred Wasteland.

While ideal for October and her loyalists, dissatisfaction still broiled. Those still loyal to Queen Twayblade, along with a few other, smaller factions, clashed tooth and claw on a small level many times. Eventually, the bloody and terrible War of Bones and Orchids put Tway back on the throne. She escorted her people to the Sunbeam Ruins, where she believed each member of the Clan could seek their own truth in peace.

However, political unrest led through to religious upheaval, and the conflict rose once again, this time between conflicting sects and cults. The affront to earnest philosophy and contemplation was such that the Lightweaver herself revoked the lands she'd granted them, and drove them from her Flight.

Banished and stranded, the Clan finally set aside their many, many differences in the name of making a new home for themselves, and never again earning the ire of the Gods themselves. Queen Matriarch Twayblade and Usurper Queen October have stepped back from the seat of power, and their granddaughter Laelia now sits on the throne with a stern but even hand. It was she who brought the Clan back to a place familiar to most of her subjects, even if wasn't always the most hospitable; the Scarred Wasteland.

Religion

The official faith of the Clan is the Church of Unity. Founded by the late Aether in the Wind Days and currently led by High Priestess Mabon, the Church of Unity respects and observes the power, role, and sanctity of all the Draconic Gods. The religious factions of the Light Days have all conceded, leaving only the Church.

The Church of Unity teaches that no dragon's fate is determined by the element of their birth, and that each dragon also has a true Soul Element. While the Birth Element gives eye color and powers, Soul Element describes the personality.

The Church of Unity pays special attention to both the Plaguebringer, who governs their lands, and to the Lightweaver, to whom they pay reparations for their offense.

Gender & Sexuality

To dragons of the Clan Under the Red, Mates and Lovers are completely separate things. To have a romantic partner outside one's Mate is not only accepted, but common. Mating is important only insofar as duty to the Clan to produce healthy, strong offspring, ergo a Mate is held as more of a sociopolitical obligation. Romance comes into play only with Lovers, who may be of any gender or sex with no social stigma. In fact, it is not unheard of for a dragon to keep multiple Lovers. It is encouraged, however, to keep only one Mate at a time. The only stigma comes from retiring from Mating conspicuously early.

The Clan Under the Red is also welcoming to dragons of all genders. Overall, the Clan sees no wisdom in being beholden to strict gender binaries, if one's assigned gender does not feel True.

Yukon is so gorgeous! I'm not sure if you have any interest, but he fits the requirments of my subspecies "Clownpants", if you want to register him - seems like a fitting subspecies for a master of ceremony. :)

I have one of Aisa's babies. She's like her mother, trained to level 25 in the coliseum to raise fodder. She's one of my favorite dragons =)

I was going through the offspring list of one of my dragons and saw Quilpie and, WOW, I love what you've done with her! She looks so pretty in butterfly + glimmer. It's nice to see her getting some love since most of that dragon's kids are exalted~
