Phaedra

Phaedra was married to Theseus, King of Athens. While Theseus was away on a journey, Phaedra fell madly in love with her stepson, Hippolytus.

Hippolytus swore to remain abstinent, and refused to worship Aphrodite. He instead honoured the virgin goddess of the hunt, Artemis. In return, vengeful Aphrodite took responsibility as the cause for Phaedras sudden lust for Hippolytus.

Feeling immense guilt, Phaedra attempted to starve herself so that she may die without ever having to confess her feelings to Hippolytus. Phaedra confided in her nurse that she was lovesick for Hippolytus. The nurse, believing Phaedra should follow her heart, told Hippolytus of Phaedra's feelings. He reacted with disgust, outling his distaste for the nature of women.

Out of shame and fear, Phaedra committed suicide.

When her husband, Theseus, returned from his journey, he found his wife's body accompanied by a note pointing the blame to Hippolytus. Theseus banished his son.

Hippolytus set out to leave Athens on his chariot. However, near the oceanside, a sea-monster was summoned by Poseidon at Aphrodites' request. The monster frightened Hippolytus' horses and caused his chariot to tip over. His horses dragged him across the rocks.

Artemis later appeared in front of Theseus and informed him of Aphrodites' fault. She stressed that although Phaedra lied in her note to Theseus, the blame lied not with Phaedra, but with Aphrodite.

Clan Lore

Born from the tragedy of Phaedra's suicide, her dragons roam the skies. The clan felt abadoned by Phaedra during her lovesick demise, and sought after her affections for centuries following her death. Her dragons have long since given up their fruitless search.

The clan currently resides in a Mighty Lair of the Reedcleft Ascent, although they tend to come and go as they please. These grief-stricken explorers find solace in wandering through the vast expanses of the land.
