Hi! My name is Serabee. I'm 28, live in the U.S., and love playing video games, musicals, watching horror movies, animals (particularly cats) and writing. ESPECIALLY writing. If you mail me I will reply, but it may take a bit. But I like getting mail and making new friends!

Also, I use the name Serabee on multiple websites, and since I made it up, if you see anyone else using this name on another website it's probably me XD

About the Suncaller Clan

The Suncaller Clan was founded many years ago by an Imperial dragon by the name of Basir. Basir had set out on a journey of his own after losing his family- his parents and mate to an illness, one that he himself had barely survived. He decided to find a new home for himself, one where he form a clan that would serve as a welcoming beacon to dragons of all species- even Pearlcatchers, though his Imperial heritage did make him slightly wary of them. One day while travelling he noticed a beam of sunlight in the distance. He followed it and stumbled across the remains of a village, with broken down stone buildings and various dens dug into the earth, along the edges of the Hewn City. Believing that the sunbeam had called him to this location he named his new clan the Suncaller.

The second dragon to join his new clan was Precilla, a kindly Snapper, who had sustained some injuries in a rockslide. Her injuries made it difficult to travel with her fellow Snappers. Before joining the clan she had lived the nomadic lifestyle typical of her breed. It took her awhile to adjust to living in one place, but eventually she settled in well. She now has a small den of her own which she decorated with various trinkets from her travels. Now that she is elderly she’s even more happy to have settled down. She has become something of a mentor and grandmotherly figure to the other dragons in the clan and is one of the most well-loved and trusted members.

The clan continued to grow over the years. Now it has formed into a reasonably small town, using the ruins of the buildings and underground dens to create a comfortable environment. In addition to the dragons who live here, dragons passing through are usually quite happy to find it, since the members are always eager to trade and talk with them. Some travelers actually seek the clan out for these reasons.

Recently the clan faced some turmoil as Basir announced his retirement as leader. Having served as the leader since its founding, he was eager to retire in his old age. There were many rumors of who he would choose as a successor, and many opinions as to who was the best choice. In the end, Basir surprised many by choose Nascha. Many believed the Coatl was too young and inexperienced to be a leader, but Basir was firm in his choice. Most dragons came to accept it, knowing Nascha was at the very least a kind and fair dragon. Still, some members of the clan refuse to accept his decision and rumors continue to persist of plots to overthrow the new leader.

One interesting cultural feature of the Suncaller Clan is the role of the diviner. It is a vital role, almost on par with the leader in terms of importance. The clan has a single diviner at a time. Always female, the diviner acts as a link to the Lightweaver. She receives visions that help guide the growth of the clan. The most important part of her role comes to breeding. The Suncaller Clan keeps itself in the goddess’ good graces by providing a steady stream of exalted dragons to serve her. The diviner of the clan receives visions of which dragons are to breed and when to produce the next set of exaltable dragons. While many dragons in the clan maintain mates, it is not considered taboo to breed with another dragon if the diviner suggests it. These pairings are brief and purely for the creation of dragons to be exalted. The romantic and personal lives of dragons are considered entirely separate from the process. The first diviner, and the one who would receive the initial vision that created the role, was Precilla. The current is Lenore.


About the Ranks
This section is more for my reference than anything else, but feel free to read it XD

Leader & Co-Leader
The official leader of the clan, followed by their second in command. The leader makes most decisions for the clan, while the co-leader is the one who takes charge when the leader isn't around. Co-leaders are chosen by the leader.

Caster & Guard
The two combat ranks that help protect the clan, though their power is rarely called upon. Because of this most have a secondary rank, usually one that involves resource collecting. Casters specialize in using magic while guards use physical strength.

The head caster is Gwydion.
The head guard is Brighid.

Hunter & Gatherer & Fisher
These dragons are in charge of getting food for the clan. They often double as combat classes, particularly the hunters. Hunters gather meat, fishers gather fish, and gatherers gather plants and insects.

Healer & Nurse
Though they sound similar, they're actually pretty different. Healers tend to illnesses and injuries that my occur. Nurses take care of hatchlings, particularly those that are to be exalted, who have little contact with their parents. Hatchlings born from personal matings are often raised by their parents.

While the clan is a heavy mix of dragons of different species and flights, ambassadors each represent a flight and handle formal communications between this clan and clans of that flight.
