Cloud Rider is a very important dragon to the Clan, he is the Infinity Giver. Being the Infinity Giver for this Clan is a great honor, although the dragon pretty much gives up the right to live after 600 years of service to the Atlantic Crystal. This crystal is the reason that these dragons live so long, far past the long years these dragons already have. The Atlantic crystal had been discovered from their ancestors, although the crystal needed to take over a Dragons live-form in order to keep its power strong.

The crystal used to be free standing, hovering high in the sky over the Clans camp, keeping the dragons that the crystal overlooked young and healthy. The crystal has amazing healing capabilities, healing the weak and injured within hours. The Atlantic crystal also kept the prey and Foliage plentiful. However, within the first 800 years of the crystal taking care of the Clan, it’s own life force began to fade. The crystal began to develop its own need for life, its own need to protect and to continue its purpose.

Because of it dying, the crystal began to sought out life, beginning to send images to the Healers of the Clan that the crystal needed a dragon to willingly give up its body the crystal. Because of the crystals importance to all the dragons, a Male Nocturne named Rust Wing, was willing to give his life for the crystal. What no one knew was that he would become the crystal, he was Rust Wing, but he was also the Atlantic Crystal. His original coloring was a dark orange with orange spines. Once the crystal accepted his offering, the crystal broke in half and entered the young male, his primary coloring changing to White while his orange spines also changed to platinum in color. Therefore, this started the ceremony and the great responsibility of all dragons and their health and their fortune.

Every 180 years the crystal needs a new body to keep its power and life force going strong, ultimately leaving its current host and entering another of its choosing. However, the former host does die within hours of giving up the crystal, the body spent from harvesting the crystals immense need of energy in order to function correctly. This was how Cloud Rider was chosen. Upon hatching he was a small black wasp Skydancer with a dark green colored capsule. However, a few days after his hatchday, the crystal had told the current host, Morrigan, that the crystal needed to be joined with this young dragon. A large ceremony had been held when Cloud Rider was only 8 days old, conjoining with the crystal. His colors changed immediately, his dark black armored skin turning white, along with his bee like wings. The dark green capsule had turned into a platinum color, shimmering, glowing and faintly pulsing with the power of the crystal. Morrigan has taught him all that she could within three days before she passed away, also writing on a parchment to help the new Infinity Giver learn and grow with his new abilities and responsibilities.

The crystal does choose dragons, but in one way or another they must have a pure soul.
