Wolfstarblade's Clan

"Heya, most Windies call me Wolf. Welcome to our Clanhome!
I'm the gatekeeper and ambassador. Please excuse any mess you come across, and do be careful. Being made of many separate fleets of hot air balloons, airships, bridges & platforms - or the odd kite-craft, or two, - the clan's flying lairs are always gaining new additions, being upgraded, repaired or renovated. Those of us who live near the Twisting Crescendo also have the risk of getting blown off-course, damaged or tangled up in collisions, if the wind and weather get too unpredictable y'see.

Doesn't happen often of course, so don't y'worry! We've been living up here a fair few years now and we know what we're about. You'd be in no danger if anything did happen, as long as y'follow the nearest crew's instructions until I get to you. We're all trained and experienced flyers, its why we're permitted fly so close to the Crescendo. But there are some clans around that'll are brand new to the area, and the strength and nature of the wind currents. There's always a few with crews under-strength too, so we all do our best to help each other out.

Aaah, there's really nothing quite like the rush of riding the ol' Crescendo in a storm though... *She sighs, a fond far way look on her face. You follow her gaze and notice some activity in the distance*

What's going on over there? Well, our clan loves trying out new ideas, safety measures and different ways to improve our lair. We're currently working on an easier way to either connect to our allocated hatching grounds, or to move everything up here as a separate nursery area in the fleet.

Why?
We can make a lot more room for new clans to move to Wind, if we only require more hoard & vault space. (Which is also where our tunnelers and ground-crews all prefer to live.) We'll all be able to keep a better eye on the hatchlings too - especially the fledglings and yearlings, they get into all sorts of mischief or accidents, without good flight-capable escorts. And our best flyers are usually needed up here for various things, unless they prefer dirt-side professions or being on full-time nursery duty. It also means we can make it easier for the few adults who don't mind looking after 'em - as well as those ground-pounders who'd prefer not to be around kids 24/7.

Currently we have a rotating shift of dragons who'll go down each week to lend a hand with the nursery, or whatever else needs doing.
But see, the way our clan prefers to run things is that raising the hatchlings should be shared between the whole clan in little bits, not just their parents and/or our ground-pounders. Hatchlings need a lot of room and care as you know, so this way no-one gets too overworked or overwhelmed, and everyone can do what makes them happy, regardless of age, - or anything else for that matter.

T'was easier to run things that way when we were small enough to stay in the Steppes and Ascent, sure, but eventually we ran out of space for everyone. The sky and Windsinger ever call, and all Windborn prefer to fly. So the Elders applied for our starter fleet, - the Windborn, and any Clan from other flights who wanted to move ship-side, did. We've been up here ever since...

Oh over there? That's where we're trying to build lairs for our new Aether clan-friends who're looking to move here & become clan-mates. It kind of became an urgent necessity once the eggs that landed in our nest areas hatched, & we found out they can't help randomly snacking on anything that's plant-based. Which as you can see from the fleet's state right now, includes almost everything we build with, but the hatchlings especially seem to like the ship-material bamboo...

*She waves an arm over to what you slowly recognize are actually strange hatchling sized chew-marks on various beams nearby.
She squints slightly at something beside you that you can't quite follow, - too distracted by her whipping out a thick, slightly battered notebook & pen. Flipping through it, she quickly jots down a few notes on different pages with little colored tabs sticking out the sides. All while still continuing your conversation.*

The poor bedraggled adult Aether's who came flying over, looking for their eggs couldn't stop apologizing for ages, but bamboo is delicious. We just didn't expect them to also like the lacquered/water-resistant ship-materials so much! Our plant & insect-eaters usually can't stand the taste of the lacquer. A trick our Elders picked up from other Clan's histories in the Flight's Vortex and forum messenger service. The Aether hatchling's later insisted it tasted almost like something called 'Mi'ri'en' before the Treaty. Our cooks haven't found out what the ingredient means in Common, -although the shipwrights know what it's made of. The adult Aether's perked up & they all looked like excited puppies at that word, when the kids' were explaining what'd been happening while they were away from their folks. It was so cute.
*she chuckles quietly* "...Oh, wait. Where was I, again?

*She pauses, head tilted to the side & pen raised above a page like a bird poised to swoop.* "Ah, yes. That's right!" *Her pen-hand raises in an 'Aha!' gesture, before her notetaking continues.*

"We already knew from caring for the hatchlings that they likely have no conscious control over the snacking either. Proven by the adults taking nibbling around the edges of the message flags we had on the mast, while getting to know each other over the coming days. And, well, we couldn't let anyone go homeless once we heard their story! It's been a real adjustment though, it's true. For them and us both! There's been a Treaty drawn up, we're debating and hashing out new clan-rules, traditions, societal structures. We don't want our new Aether friends to be forced into segregation or something, just because of their snacking habits. Especially if any new Aethers actually turn out not to like enclosed spaces, as so many of our Wind-born hatchlings tend to do. We're no sure how the kids're gonna be affected by their elemental magic. Look at how subspecies dragons developed, after all!
Plus, none of us would want to be ground-bound, stuck in one area, or kept away from friends for too long! Well except maybe our Hib-Den tunnellers, but even they like to come out and bask in the sun, or relax somewhere else above ground, every so often.

So, now we're trying to track down, gather, follow & improve on any schematics & designs that may have survived the crash of their old space lair-ship. We're also adjusting how we make our current ships, learning and sharing ship-building techniques for non-plant-based resources & materials. Flying-capable ships made of metals, gems, rocks, wind magic & runes are turning out to be a wondrous new thing to explore!

And, just imagine! There's whole realms out there we've never even seen or been to, - which has most folks wondering if all dragons would be able to explore & fly around without ships in space, too, someday. Although it also begs the question of any Shade-defense measures we might need in future... We'll have to consult with some of our Out-O'-Flight friends & allies for help with things like experiments and supply of resources of course,-" *She ruffles back through the notebook, adding a few more notes on different pages. Abruptly, she nods. Snapping it shut & putting it away again so quickly, that you wonder absently if magic was involved.* "-that'll probably be the next project in the works. Unless a group-think turns up another question we'll need answers too first. Or if the sky, Crescendo or Windsinger send another adventure our way!

Anyhow, mind your steps, wings and head! Our tasks tend to turn into a bit of a competition as well as a few group-think tanks as you can prob'ly already tell. But as long as all our different little ones & clanmates have somewhere safe & comfy to stay, with enough room to grow and have everything each of them may need, any ideas are welcome. So feel free to join in with the building, or planning & advice if you like! We all love new ideas and knowledge. (And I hear there'll be spot prizes for whichever idea(s) meet certain criteria...)

If you'd prefer a quieter spot to just relax, the guest lairs are down that bridge. After you've settled in, when you come to the first platform straight ahead from your quarters, take the bridge to the third ship on your left if you feel like browsing through our food-court for a bite to eat.
If you find you'd like to apply to move in, you'll need to have a chat with me and the Elders: Amaranth, Kagetora, - & the council members from each section of the Clan-fleet - I'll introduce you to them later. The chat will just be to help you with questions, the guidelines we live by. Planning where in the fleet you'd like to stay, organizing moving your things over & starting any building that might need done. Oh! and flag down a any dragon with those ferny looking birdskulls on if you need someone to show you where to find things, like how to get to the amazing hot springs we've found nearby! Does wonders for the body, but do take a familiar or someone with you, just in case you fall asleep in the water. Even Water magics are spotty now sometimes...

I'm the gatekeeper here - that means I organize the day to day things, like running the delivery service for messages, packages, trades, the paperwork & accounting. I organize the rosters with council members, Elders & Coliseum Teams - as well as keeping track of who's got time-off for nesting, dirtside duties, vacations... y'know those sorts of things. Might need to ask some of our Aether clanmates if they have a better way of dealing with paperwork & data system, - actually. that's another treaty consideration I should bring up later... *She mutters softly, flicking her book out again & to make another note in it.* We're all slowly adjusting to the culture-shift, but we're getting there I guess...

"I'm an artist, occasional sword-fighter, avid reader and gamer. I also love relaxing outdoors, animals, horse-riding, music, singing, many different anime/manga, medieval lore, myths, and fantasy/sci-fi.

I read and game every spare moment I have, and I'm always hurriedly sketching or writing out ideas for artworks, before they decide to fly away somewhere else. Art is kind of my life really, but there are also many other things vying for my time... When I'm not needed for my duties here of course. Do you know BTS? Or the Elder Scrolls games?"
