Humble goat farmers were attacked in the treacherous mountains of Dragonhome. In the turmoil, the children were protected by a single nanny goat that fended off vicious beasts. After this attack, the family could not continue their journey and settled in the mountains. Over the years, that original family grew and split apart into six different families, each claiming a part of the mountain range and a specific skill set.

The Donnelly, brute force fighters, control the cliffs. The O'Hannigan study magic and have claimed the caves. The Cooney, researchers and scientists, have taken the mountain passes. The Desmond have a passion for medicine and operate within the center of the mountains. The Doran, engineers and agricultural experts, have taken the valley. The Callaghan are wilderness survivalist, they live in and protect the borders. Together, all six families are known as the Bovidae Kingdom.

The ruling, royal family is decided with every new leader of the current royal family through a battle of the goats, raised by each family. The friendly competition prevents in-fighting and blood being spilled on the dry earth. The currently ruling family is the Donnelly, who have won every match for the past thousand years. The second ruling class are the family heads, picked through a family's specific conditions.

Beastclans are also considered part of the kingdom and have a chance to compete for the royal title. There have been several Beastclan leaders. The relationship between the beasts and the dragons is a peaceful, helpful one. Everyone that calls themselves a Bovidae is family and deserves a good life within the kingdom.

Bovidae history is filled with blood and conquest, expanding the kingdom through a large, desolate mountain range by force. Yet in recent generations, the Bovidae have begun to grow more peaceful and now only battle those that threaten Bovidae allies or the kingdom itself. Despite their new peaceful ways, the Bovidae remain fierce warriors who have no fear of death and no concept of surrender.

Refugees, from any kingdom or clan, of dragon or beast blood, is welcomed to Bovidae. There is always room. The Bovidae open their arms to new cultural traditions, taking great pride in countless festivals and practices. The only two rules that must be followed include doing no harm to the goats or dodos of the kingdom, and seek solutions to troubles peacefully. Everything else is considered common sense.
