"The lair has started to crumble. Most dragons have been sent through the crossroads to a shelter. I have been staying to watch and make sure all of the dragons make it out safe.
But something's wrong. Two couples of dragons have decided to nest, unbeknownst to them that the lair has been crumbling for quite a while. They have decided to watch over their unborn hatchlings and will follow the rest of the clan to our safe heaven.
I wish them luck."
MirrorShadow lifted her head from the scroll and watched the dragons huddled over their eggs, shaking and tired with deep shadows under their eyes.
Hopefully, all four of them will make it out alive.
"Prophecy and Prophet have survived, but two eggs did not make it. The two have come back to us in our new home, but the surviving hatchling seems to have gone missing."
Mirrorshadow finished the update with a flourish, her head jerking up and her pen skidding across the paper when she heard a small squelch of claws sinking into the fleshy plague ground.
Seaburst stepped forward, her tail wrapped gently, but protectively around the surviving hatchling.
Mirrorshadow gave a curt nod and Seaburst returned it, turning around and taking the small hatchling with her.
Mirrorshadow turned back to the parchment and scribbled at the bottom, "The hatchling will survive and thrive under the care of Seaburst, this knowledge will not be relayed to the parents.
As far as they know, their hatchling did not survive."
"Neither Lacei nor the hatchlings survived. Stricken with grief, Obsidian has decided to stay here in an attempt to bring this lair back. She must be delirious, but I can't blame her. The rest of the clan will grieve their loss."
Mirrorshadow cast a quick glance towards Obsidian, who huddled in the corner, wet droplets falling from her eyes. Mirrorshadow silently picked up her writings and spread her wings, going home, to check back again tomorrow.
