TW: Parent death and child death
The wish of Anaxi and Sirius have taken us this far. . .
From the vast intellect of the Starfall Isles, Imperials Anaxi and Sirius sought a new life in the Sunbeam Ruins. Taking their adopted son, Sodalite, across Sornieth to where his flight was born, the two Imperials struggled through the Scarred Wasteland and Tangled Wood. They discovered beautiful things, such as a Plague hatchling teeming with Nature energy named Pestis, and two Nature dragons, named Pomelo and Levias, bursting with love for adventure and each other. The journey, although treacherous and dangerous, was made easier and more comfortable by the undying optimism of Anaxi and Sirius. Always looking to the brighter side of life, always finding a reason to keep moving forward, their desire for a new life kept the group going. When they reached the Sunbeam Ruins, it was cause for celebration. Their journey was not over, however, and the dragons continued on into the Emperor's Wake.
Deciding to take shelter in the Wake for the night, the dragons' sleep was awoken by the sound of violent thrashing and trees breaking in the night. Anaxi and Sirius, directing the rest of the group to stay hidden, left their shelter to investigate the noise. The sound of battle roared throughout the night, and Sodalite tried desperately to leave and find the two Imperials. Levias, however, reminded him that they were instructed to stay put by their leaders.
In the morning, when the sounds of violent battle had faded, the dragons found the fallen bodies of Anaxi and Sirius under piles of rubble and fallen trees. Struck by grief, Sodalite demanded that they return to the Starfall Isles so he may properly bury them. Pomelo refused, saying that all Anaxi and Sirius wanted was to live in the Sunbeam Ruins, and they would never feasibly be able to carry the bodies of two Imperials across Sornieth.
During the journey, however, Anaxi had bore two eggs and carried them with her protectively. Now, Sodalite carried the unhatched forms of his two siblings with him.
You don't have to do this on your own. . .
The group carried the two fallen Imperials through the remainder of the journey, before settling near the coast of the Sunbeam Ruins. While the other dragons settled, for five days Sodalite did nothing but sit near the graves of his parents and protect his unhatched siblings. As the clan settled, it grew, and a handful of dragons decided to find their own home within it.One night, Pomelo approached Sodalite and talked with him. She spoke about all that Anaxi and Sirius had done, and how their wish had been to make a new life not only for themselves, but for Sodalite. They talked for hours, Sodalite's voice heavy with grief, weariness and confusion, and Pomelo listened patiently, never judging him. When Sodalite grew too exhausted to continue, Pomelo wished him a good night and left.
For two more days, Sodalite sat by the graves. Then, to the surprise of his new clanmates, he Rose and approached them. The conversation he made was small, but meaningful. The newcomers explained how they were worried for him, and in turn Sodalite expressed his misery and his hope.
As the days continued, Pomelo realized that there was much to be done. The clan needed food, shelter and defenses, and she could not do it all herself. So, she selected three dragons to take care of these three matters. Aydi, a Pearlcatcher, would be the one to collect food. Doe, a Skydancer, would help create homes and safe places for the growing clan. Xyra, a Banescale, would be responsible for creating a small team of strong dragons to protect the clan.
As we grow. . .
As the clan expanded, Aydi, Doe and Xyra grew more into their roles, being seen as leaders of the clan. Aydi grew proficient with organization, Doe connected deeply with her clanmates, and Xyra dedicated herself to the protection of the clan. Xyra did everything she could to prepare the clan for any potential attackers or times of crisis. Her efforts were great, but ultimately proved insufficient.Creatures from the Sunbeam Ruins attacked the clan, and although the clan fought them off well, it was not without loss. Pestis, the hatchling that never seemed to grow, was attacked in the invasion and lost his life. The clan grieved heavily, but none moreso than Sodalite, who felt as if he had lost another family member.
After the attack, the three leaders deemed it necessary to increase defenses. Xyra recruited three dragons, two Mirrors named Vanilla and Abaddon, and a Spiral named Juno. These three dragons were the ones who actively fought off dangers to the clan, and quickly became respected by their clanmates.
The clan continued to grow, continued to struggle, and continued to recover. The grief surrounding Anaxi, Sirius and Pestis never truly faded, but the clan carried on with their memory, and promised that they always would.
As it always does, the world continued. . .
