Lore A community that was once overflowing with riches is now reduced to only a few malnourished dragons struggling to survive in a barren wasteland, its history steeped in blood and betrayal. | ~~~~~~ |
General Information
In a land scarred by constant thunderstorms lies a forgotten cave system. Clan Balinor was once known for its high-yielding gold and cinnabar mines. The reminisce of wealth can still be seen in the fine metalwork cast aside in corroded corners, and in the furnaces packed with old ash.
The Factions
Several sub-clans live within the Balinorian caves due to the sheer amount of territory. They are constantly squabbling over caverns, food, and material. Each Faction believes that they are the true descendants of the Balinor family, and all others are both an insult and a threat to the Balinor family line.
Extravagants
The Extravagants live in the Mansa Caverns. They adore any and all material items that have even the slightest chance of being owned by a member of the original Balinor family. No matter how rusted or how rotten the item might be, those a part of the Extravagants will hoard it with jealously.
Extravagants often act with suspicion towards their own members, but unite fiercely when turning against a different Faction.
Beholders
The Beholders take refuge in the Tenno Grottos.
It is both rumored and highly accepted that the majority of the Balinor family had multi-gaze eyes. Because of this, the Beholders discriminate against any dragon who doesn't have this trait. They are quick to claim any new multi-gaze dragons who settle into the Balinor cave system.
The Mansa Caverns
These caves are found in the very top of the cliffs. Despite the wealth the Extravagants gather, the majority of them are miserable in these drafty caves. The shape of the entrances to these caverns are positioned in such a way that the freezing north wind is inescapable, no matter where they take shelter.
The Tenno Grottos
With it's high arching caverns and the strikingly large stalactites, the Tenno Grottos are certainly a sight to behold. Unfortunately since they are almost 200 ft below the surface, hardly any dragon has been able to truly appreciate its beauty. The impossibly deep waters surounding the few islands of refuge make it for an uncomfortable stay year round.
