It’s in the dead of a chilled winters night. You’re wandering through the thickest, wildest part of the Gray Woods. The branches around you are sharp. They whip past you, tearing at your clothes and exposed skin as you walk. The branches above you almost totally obscure the sky from your vision, only revealing small pieces of the indigo expanse. The only light that surrounds you are the cracks creeping through the branches’ openings.
And it’s here, amid the thickest and wildest parts of the wood, in the dead of winters night, you are lost.

THE GRAY WOODS

The Gray Woods is a few acres of wild woods that remain largely unexplored despite it’s small size. The farther from the border of it you get, the wilder and thicker the trees and foliage appear to be, and the wilder and more dangerous the woods become.
It is very rare that anyone dares to venture into the Gray Woods, as most who do are never seen or heard from by the outside world again, and those who do are reduced to the deepest recesses of insanity and trauma, only ever speaking of their experience in the Gray Woods in garbled tongues.
Nobody outside of the forest knows entirely what awaits inside its wildest parts.
The little information available on these dangerous woods is short and vague, and nearly impossible to find. That which can be uncovered speaks of mystical, divine tricksters creeping through the shadows to capture and destroy the minds of anybody unlucky enough to stumble upon them. There are also hushed rumors of those who are unable to escape being killed and left to fester and rot, becoming a part of the shadows themselves, doomed to creep and kill others as they were killed.

I have decided to use this account and website as an opportunity to write a fantasy story about the Gray Woods.
