-Current lair tally:
13 Ridgebacks, 19 Guardians, 12 Gaoler, 6 Veilspun, 5 Bogsneaks, 4 Banescales, 4 Coatls, 5 Imperials, 2 Pearlcatchers, 3 Wildclaws, 2 Tundras, 1 Skydancer and 2 Snappers :D
My thoughts on why I have a lot of some dragons, a few of others, and outright none of a select few breeds:
-I love the Gaoler, Ridgeback and Guardian breeds, for their lore and for their appearances. They are so big, strong, majestic and powerful looking!! I love the huge antlers and claws on the Gaoler and their shag carpet coats haha, and I also think the Guardians' affiliation with water is super cool. And Ridgebacks are so sick looking, I think they are my favorite breed design.
-I love Bogsneaks because they are the most snake-like in my opinion, they are very sneaky, antisocial, and sometimes unpredictable, like snakes are; specifically they remind me of pythons with their girth and flickering tongues that taste the air; they look really cool with certain genes (like morph, python and pinstripe) that really emphasizes their reptilian appearance IMO.
-I'm not a fan of Mirror dragons, like at all; mainly because of their lore, they seem mindless, like drones with but the one goal of reproducing/hunting/killing with wild abandon; generally to me they seem to have a disregard for their environment. But with googly eyes added I think they look pretty funny due to the extra eyes they have, so I might have one as a joke just to dress it up one day.
-I like Snappers, but I usually only have 1 female in my clan at any given time because I like to follow the lore of how they are often solitary and always travelling, never staying put for long; also I only house female Snappers because I just am not a fan of how the male Snapper art looks, his jawline is strange to me. I appreciate their stoutness though, and the females look so cute and warm-eyed, like an elephant without ears, tusks or trunks xD
-I really am not a fan of the appearances of Obelisk or Nocturne drakes; I just think their design looks weird and no genes or googly eyes can make me ever want any!
-I don't have any Fae dragons, partly because I can never find one that I like how it looks. Also I don't think their lore fits with my clan: they seem like they'd be hard to communicate with due to their mannerisms; and I don't really want my lair to have a bunch of fairy dragons slathering their sticky sap (Ew) all over the walls of my other dragons' burrows as they will be compelled to do. Plus, my heart is already enamored by Veilspuns; if I'm going to have a vast horde of teeny tiny dragons living amongst my clanmates, it doesn't seem right to have both of these little breeds swarming about, sounds chaotic!
-I like Coatls, but don't have many because they aren't my favorites; I think it can be hard to make them look aesthetically pleasing without the use of certain colors/genes due to their design.
-Banescales, are just freakin' bad ***; enough said! Now THAT'S a dragon!!
-Veilspuns are so elegant looking! I love their manes and delicate forms (plus they are tiny!!) I'm in the process of adding to my "hive" of Veilspuns who will reside in my clan; I'm gonna need a lot more haha!
-Imperials, Pearlcatchers, and Wildclaws - I like the three of these breeds, but I really don't think I'll get anymore unless something really catches my eye. I have a few of each mostly for lair diversity, and I've selected a few that I like! I like Wildclaws for their dinosaurian, velociraptor like appearance; and I'll always have a soft spot for Imperials because I love Asian Lung dragons.
-Spiral and Tundra dragons: honestly I'm not very passionate about either; me personally, if I encountered a Spiral drake I think I'd go mad with how hyperactive they are... so I'll never have any; and the Tundras I have, are from my very old Flight Rising account that I traded to myself; I don't have the heart to say goodbye to them since I have memories from 5+ years ago with them!
-And finally, Skydancers... It crushes me because I LOVE their lore, I think it's very nicely fleshed out and makes them seem a lot more thoughtful than a lot of the other breeds (i.e. how they take care of their young); but I just don't like their lineart!! Something about their art just rubs me the wrong way, it could be the fact you can barely see their eyes. Maybe I'll get a few females and put hoods on them (the male splash art bugs the heck out of me because of their posing)
Some of my fav familiars: (can you tell that I love reptiles) XD
