Darkarashi's Clan
Scientia Ipsa Potentia Est
Clan Info
The first of this clan came to the Crystal Spires on a wing's beat and a hope. She was Orobais, a Guardian dragonette without a clan of her own - without parents of her own. She had been birthed in a place far from the Crystal Spires, but she had found solace in the thought of being there. The thoughts turned into drive, and she knew that the Arcanist was her deity.
So she flew to him, finding a lair she could call her own. She was greeted nearly instantly in her lair by a male dragon. Enandais, he called himself, and they realized that it was fate that brought them together. The Arcanist brought them together, and they should be mindful of this. The Arcanist was not done dallying in their lives, however. There was much and more to come for this once-small, once-lonely Guardian.
Enandais' natural coloration was an advantage in the Spires that her greens were not. When they traveled, it was a different story, but for the time they spent at the lair, he did his best to protect her as his made, and their clansmembers. Together, they began clearing out their lair, expanding it by shrewd trading and selling of the artifacts they found as they traveled, and by doing their level best to ensure that the lair was clean, tidy, organized and most importantly - roomy enough to allow for guests and visitors, along with hatchlings and adoptees.
Because they grew quickly. Abandoned dragons, dragons who could no longer fit in the lairs they had been born in, dragons who needed somewhere to go even for just a little while, came to them - or were found by them. All adopted into the lair, leaving their old names behind to show that they were indeed, family. Eggs found abandoned, or fostered by a visiting pair were considered adopted, even if they were hatched within the nests of
For the glory of the Arcanist, at least one hatchling from every multi-egg nesting will be exalted, after training and experiencing the world. These exalted hatchlings are of the utmost importance to the clan, and go happily to their positions of exaltation. It is an honor and privilege to be chosen, just as it is an honor and privilege to carry on in the clan.
But as time wore on, the Arcanist's realm grew less and less fitting. They did not seek conquest, but they did not want to merely sit by and watch the other clans belonging to different deities prosper while they did not. It was not greed, but survival that drove them to leave the Arcanist's side and move adjacently into the Plaguebringer's Realm. Enandais and Orobais both still maintain their flight allegiance to the Arcanist, and will, betimes, send their hatchlings and fosterlings to Him, but living in the Plaguebringer's realm offers more protection and better chances for survival than living anywhere else.
Survival above all else. Prosperity next. They had made their choice, and their clan did prosper. The Arcanist was home, but Plaguebringer offered more than he could. It is simply, the way things are.
