Amalthea is a young mage who was born from two Fae in the service of the Gladekeeper. Her interest in dragons of other breeds and flights caught her deity's eye, and when she was old enough she was asked to leave the heart of the Nature realm and travel to the outskirts. Her focus there was to be to recruit other dragons to a new clan, thus spreading the territory and influence of Nature and increasing their numbers overall. Amalthea took this order one step further and decided to create a home for dragons cast out of other clans: Pearlcatchers without their pearls, Guardians who never completed their Search, pale Coatl who had been called cursed from birth. Everyone, she vowed, could find a home within her new clan.

Her friendly and trusting nature is both a perk and a flaw. It means not only that she welcomes newcomers and helps them feel at home very quickly, but that it is possible that she may one day be taken advantage of. Some who have been with her since the beginning might suggest that it has already happened. Amalthea isn't without resentment from other ambitious dragons among them. Amalthea appears to be oblivious to their schemes, and instead of directly leading the clan, chooses to spend a great deal of time napping beneath the wing of Lucien, the guardian who chose her as his Charge. Chances are upon arrival to the Clan of the Outcast, one will be greeted by Lucien, while Amalthea watches and listens silently from beneath the safety of his wing. Only rarely does she speak for herself, having learned that Fae monotone is at best confusing, and at worst unintelligible, to the others who come seeking sanctuary.
